Commercial Counsel

Lumentum | Greensboro, North Carolina (Onsite)

Lumentum is seeking a highly motivated Commercial Counsel to join its Commercial Legal Team. This position is based in our Greensboro, North Carolina office and is an onsite role. This attorney will serve as a strategic legal advisor supporting high-value commercial transactions across our global business. The role offers the opportunity to partner closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to structure, negotiate, and execute sophisticated commercial arrangements that support Lumentum's industry-leading photonics and networking technologies.

The successful candidate will lead complex, high-value commercial and supply chain transactions while serving as a trusted strategic advisor to business leaders across the company.

The ideal candidate combines exceptional legal drafting and negotiation skills with sound business judgment and a practical, solution-oriented approach.


What You'll Do
  • Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex domestic and international commercial transactions with customers, suppliers, manufacturers, and strategic partners.
  • Negotiate strategic customer and supplier agreements, long-term supply and capacity reservation agreements, manufacturing, OEM, EMS, procurement, sourcing, development, distribution, reseller, services, and other commercial agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance from deal structuring through negotiation, execution, implementation, and post-closing support.
  • Partner directly with senior leaders across Sales, Global Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Product Management, Engineering, and Executive Leadership.
  • Advise on forecasting, supply commitments, pricing, allocation, manufacturing capacity, warranties, indemnification, limitation of liability, intellectual property, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop practical, business-oriented solutions that appropriately balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through contract templates, negotiation playbooks, AI-enabled legal workflows, and scalable legal processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience negotiating long-term supply, manufacturing, procurement, or strategic sourcing agreements.
  • Familiarity with international commercial transactions and cross-border contracting.
  • Experience improving legal operations through automation, AI tools, contract lifecycle management systems, or process optimization.
