About the Commercial and Logistics Representative Position

The Commercial and Logistics Representative supports execution of the marketing strategy by scheduling the logistics of product purchase and sales commitments. This role monitors market conditions, supports strategy implementation, analyzes new opportunities, and identifies and recommends business opportunities and strategies for review by the marketing affiliate.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager, Refined Products Trading. Travel is minimal, at less than 5% or 15 nights per year.

What You Get to Do
  • Schedule product purchase and sale commitments across all transportation modes and geographies on behalf of CPM and CTOC, including sending and receiving product nominations with counterparties.
  • Manage inventory for all products and locations in alignment with the sales and operations plan.
  • Coordinate with Colonial Pipeline personnel to use pipeline flexibility to maximize and optimize CPM financial results.
  • Communicate production changes and inventory impacts, and coordinate with the Manager, Refined Products Trading to adjust purchases and sales for optimal financial outcomes.
  • Record scheduling activity in third-party systems and the system of record, and ensure movement data is accurately captured in KPI dashboards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to help ensure CPM operates within policy limits.
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager, Refined Products Trading to execute scheduling responsibilities and manage the effect of scheduling changes on CPM KPIs.
  • Develop strong internal and external partnerships and attend scheduling-related partner and industry functions as appropriate.
  • Monitor product location, grade, and time-spread arbitrage, and conduct ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Create metrics and analyze data that support informed commercial decisions.
  • Support accurate deal entry and daily position reporting while adhering to internal policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams supporting credit, risk management, settlement, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage or support assigned projects, identify opportunities for business improvement, and perform work in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a marketing, refining, or midstream organization.
  • Experience with pipeline, terminal, truck, rail, and/or marine logistics.
  • Experience managing counterparties on pipelines and at terminal and storage assets.
  • Experience managing, analyzing, and preparing data to support the development and execution of commercial activity.
  • Experience developing commercial and logistics analytical modeling tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of North American refined products markets, biofuels, and midstream infrastructure, including credit, risk management, trade capture, scheduling systems such as T4, and pipeline operations.
  • Knowledge of truck and rail LPG logistics and middle- and back-office controls, processes, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort working with physical and financial commodities data.
  • Ability to identify trends and transform data into actionable business insights.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all employee levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and reporting requirements across stakeholders while working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail orientation, the ability to understand the big picture, initiative, and effective time-management skills.
