Full Job Description
GFT is seeking a Coatings Inspector for Water Tank Projects to join our Construction Services team in Woodbury, NY. This is a full-time opportunity to work on water tank and infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in the field.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Coatings Inspector, you will support water tank and infrastructure projects in New York state. This role is ideal for someone with AMPP/NACE CIP Level 1 certification and hands on field experience in water tank or utility infrastructure coatings inspection with experience using AWWA Standards and Methodologies. This position requires multi-regional travel across areas ranging from the Northeast to the Mid-Atlantic.

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Performing field inspections of elevated and ground water storage tanks, carefully documenting environmental factors, surface preparation and coatings application.
  • Documenting daily job-site activities through detailed written reports and comprehensive photographic records.
  • Monitoring contractor compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and industry standards.
  • Communicating findings clearly with project managers, contractors, and client personnel.
  • Supporting multiple construction or rehabilitation projects as needed.


What you will bring to our firm:
  • Experience working on water tank and infrastructure projects.
  • At a minimum an AMPP/NACE CIP Level 1 certification.
  • Strong understanding of coatings systems, surface preparation standards, and inspection methodologies in accordance with AMPP, ASTM, and AWWA Standards and Practices.
  • Strong documentation skills to produce thorough daily inspection reports and photographic records.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools and the ability to learn other reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to climb ladders, access elevated tanks, and enter confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and use inspection tools and equipment on job sites.
  • Ability to undergo and pass a physical with respirator fit test.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Daily travel should be expected.
  • Ability to climb structures and/or tanks in excess of 150' in height.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position-either standing or sitting-for extended periods of time
  • Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and to move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable personal transportation to drive to and from project sites
  • Ability to work safely in an environment with potential risks and follow company safety guidelines.
  • Willing to work overtime when required by the project assignment.


Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with AMPP QP 5 requirements and reporting.
  • Knowledge of steel structure corrosion control methods and inspections in accordance with AWWA Standards and Practices.
  • AMPP - SSPC C3/C5 Training
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Outreach Training
  • OSHA CSE Training
  • NICET, ACI, NETTCP certs

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $88,000 - $128,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
