Responsibilities

  • Perform material takeoffs, cost calculations, and feasibility assessments for projects
  • Analyze field and laboratory reports, maps, and specifications to deliver projects
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, and testing schedules for projects
  • Inspect construction sites for engineering compliance and safety standards
  • Conduct field inspections and provide training to CMT technicians
  • Perform IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections across various construction elements
  • Support projects from proposal through completion, ensuring quality objectives are met
  • Maintain communication with clients, contractors, and senior staff as needed

You will be a part of seasoned, highly-qualified team that performs geotechnical and materials engineering, Construction Materials Testing (CMT), and construction inspections of some of the most highly complex and transformational infrastructure projects in our region. Notable Atlas projects in West Texas include the Children's Museum ("La Nube"), I-10 Widening, Transmountain, Border Expressway, Starlight Event Center, and the almost every major roadway in El Paso. You will have an opportunity to be a part of advanced manufacturing, mission critical, DOT, and enormous federal projects in our region. Core Responsibilities
  • Perform material takeoffs, calculate cost and profitability, and determine feasibility of projects based on location, resources, and profit analysis
  • Analyze daily field and laboratory reports, USGS maps, drawings, specifications, test procedures, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and deliver projects
  • Prepare or direct preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, testing schedules and designs for project
  • Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering test plans, specifications, and safety standards
  • Perform field inspections, provides training to CMT technicians, and supports office, laboratory, and field needs as needed
  • Perform IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections of Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Fireproofing, Firestopping, Prestressed/Precast Concrete, etc.
  • Support projects from proposal through completion to ensure scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives are met
  • Maintain communication with clients, contractors, and senior staff as needed
  • Direct, where necessary, various activities at project sites
  • Other duties as assigned

You'll thrive here if you have
  • B.S. in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.), Construction Management - Preferred
  • CMT, Construction Inspection, and Construction Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Will consider an associate's degree in engineering technology, B.S. in Geology or other sciences, with 2-5 years of experience.
  • ACI Concrete Field Grade I or ACI Concrete Compressive Strength a Plus
  • TXAPA, NICET, or ICC Certifications a Plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time as needed (but not required)
