Location: Mt. Vernon, NY

Hours: M-F 40 hours weekly

Salary: $90,000

OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Clubhouse Program Director provides overall leadership, coordination, and oversight of the Westchester County Clubhouse and is responsible for ensuring that program operations are consistent with the Clubhouse International model, recovery-oriented practice, member choice, and the program's approved service plan. The Director leads day-to-day program implementation, supports meaningful member participation, supervises and develops staff, coordinates community and interagency partnerships, and uses member feedback and program data to promote quality improvement.

The Director is expected to foster a strengths-based, person-centered environment in which members and staff work collaboratively. The position places particular emphasis on meaningful participation, work-ordered day activities, employment and education goals, community integration, peer support, cultural and linguistic responsiveness, and member-driven recovery.

The Program Director embodies the values of the Clubhouse Model, demonstrating fierce optimism, professional curiosity, and a deeply communitarian approach to partnerships and engagement. The Director ensures that all elements of Social Practice are available to members and that social practitioners have adequate support, training, and supervision to provide effective, quality services.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
  • Provides overall leadership, coordination, and oversight of Clubhouse programming and day-to-day operations.
  • Performs all elements of Social Practice with the membership, including member engagement, social design, relationship development, continuous assessment and therapeutic intervention, and management of transitional environments.
  • Supports and develops a therapeutic community based on Social Practice, recovery-oriented practice, member choice, and the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs.
  • Ensures meaningful member participation in the Clubhouse community and promotes member-driven recovery and self-determination.
  • Supports work-ordered day activities and opportunities that promote members' employment, education, social, financial, and vocational goals.
  • Promotes community integration, peer support, relationship development, and meaningful opportunities for members to build skills, develop talents, build dignity, and strengthen a sense of belonging.
  • Supervises, mentors, develops, and supports social practitioners and other program staff.
  • Coordinates staff schedules, responsibilities, caseloads, and evaluations to ensure effective program operations and service delivery.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing of the program, including participation in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and development of staff.
  • Responsible for the program's budget, data collection, scope of service requirements, and overall administration of the program.
  • Uses member feedback, program data, and other information to identify opportunities for quality improvement and strengthen program effectiveness.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable government agency requirements, program standards, company policies, procedures, and the approved service plan.
  • Actively participates in programmatic decision-making forums, including the Clubhouse Communications and Programming Committee.
  • Coordinates and maintains effective relationships with community partners, external providers, and interagency stakeholders.
  • Promotes and supports the Clubhouse community and Social Practice both internally and externally.
  • Represents the Clubhouse at organizational forums, community events, external meetings, and other activities as needed.
  • Ensures that program activities and services are responsive to the cultural and linguistic needs of members.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment in which members and staff work together to support the mission and goals of the Clubhouse.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Programming & Housing.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT
  • Demonstrates flexibility and interchangeability with other staff on the unit to fulfill program and member needs.
  • Maintains flexibility in scheduling, including staying late or arriving early when necessary to meet unit or member needs.
  • Provides leadership and support during programmatic or member crises and ensures appropriate response in accordance with training and established practices.
  • Participates in organizational initiatives, meetings, events, and external activities representing the Clubhouse and organization as needed.
  • Promotes a respectful, inclusive, recovery-oriented environment for members, staff, and community partners.
  • Supports continuous development of Clubhouse practices consistent with the Clubhouse International model and the principles of Social Practice.
  • Maintains a cheerful, professional, and solution-focused approach while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with members, staff, leadership, community partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of staff while fostering meaningful member participation.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities to completion within established parameters, prescribed routines, and accepted practices.
  • Ability to effectively handle crises in a supportive and professional manner based on training and standard accepted practices.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the techniques of Social Practice.
  • Thorough understanding of Social Practice and the Clubhouse Model.
  • Understanding of recovery-oriented, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches to behavioral health services.
  • Demonstrated commitment to member choice, self-determination, community integration, and meaningful participation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community and interagency partners.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, AWARDS, and Outlook.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.
  • Completion of a Leadership Accelerated Program or three (3) years of outside supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the techniques of Social Practice.
  • Thorough understanding of Social Practice and the Clubhouse Model.
  • Experience in behavioral health, rehabilitation, community-based services, or a related human services setting preferred.
  • Experience supervising and developing staff in a program or community-based setting preferred.
