  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and application delivery using modern engineering practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters and supporting cloud technologies including configuration and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor platform health, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and participate in incident response and long-term remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to evaluate emerging technologies and promote continuous improvement.

Full Job Description
We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team in Charlotte, NC (or another approved on-site location). Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the role of Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable private cloud infrastructure and platform services that support reliable deployment and operation of ministry-critical workloads.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and application delivery using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, AI tools, and other modern engineering practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
  • Manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, open-source storage, and supporting cloud technologies, including configuration, upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, and capacity optimization.
  • Monitor platform health, troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, and participate in incident response and on-call support, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation to improve resilience.
  • Collaborate with teams, stakeholders, and vendors to evaluate emerging technologies, optimize cloud resource usage and costs, and develop tooling and documentation that promote continuous improvement, maintainability, and shared technical knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or university program certificate in a related field and five (5) to seven (7) years of Cloud Engineering experience; or seven (7)+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure engineering with a focus on platform operations, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Extensive hands-on experience administering Kubernetes in production, strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, and comfort with open-source, on-premise environments; OpenStack and Ceph experience is a plus.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, an opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire.
