Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Linux-based operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Amazon Linux, while implementing and enforcing security controls and managing software and application configurations.
- Collaborate with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) and Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs) to manage agency-mandated compliance requirements, support compliance workflows, and ensure adherence to security policies and standards.
- Maintain System Security Plan (SSP) compliance by configuring and managing vulnerability scans, monitoring and maintaining system logs, and implementing corrective actions and countermeasures to address identified vulnerabilities.
- Manage and maintain AWS cloud resources, including EC2, RDS, S3, and serverless infrastructure, while administering cloud policies and permissions to ensure security, performance, and compliance.
- Configure and support AWS networking components, including VPCs, network interfaces, API Gateways, and Route 53, while troubleshooting connectivity and infrastructure-related issues.
- Support and maintain cloud-native technologies, including AWS Step Functions, ECS, and Lambda, to enhance application deployment, orchestration, and automation.
- Implement and support enterprise authentication and authorization solutions using GATEKEEPER, CASPORT, PKI, and other agency-standard identity management technologies.
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot supporting technologies and tools, including Nginx, Podman, OpenSSL, PostgreSQL clients, and the AWS CLI.
- Develop, maintain, and automate system administration tasks using configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet.
- Utilize Git for source code management, version control, and collaboration across development and infrastructure teams.
- Analyze, document, and troubleshoot data flows across multiple environments, including low-to-high data pipelines, while ensuring the integrity and secure movement of data between systems such as eVo and WandS.

Qualifications
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in system administration and monitoring of large, distributed computing environments. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field is highly desired. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, and a master's degree in a technical field may be substituted for four (4) years of experience.
- Experience administering and supporting large-scale distributed environments consisting of multiple clusters, clustering architectures spanning at least 10 equipment racks, and environments containing a minimum of 150 nodes per site.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting large-scale cloud computing environments, including distributed storage and data retrieval systems such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Scality, Swift, Gluster, Lustre, GPFS, Amazon Storage Services, or comparable big data or high-performance computing technologies.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience developing and maintaining software scripts using languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience demonstrating a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including user and group account management in LDAP and the configuration and administration of DHCP, DNS, and TFTP services.
- Demonstrated experience using configuration management tools such as Puppet and Salt.
- Expert-level knowledge of Linux PXE and network provisioning processes, including Anaconda Kickstart configurations, RAID controller utilities, TFTP images, and disk detection scripts.
- Experience accessing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting systems using remote administration tools, including VNC, Serial over LAN (SoL), IPMI, and BIOS-level configuration utilities.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, including experience with OpenSSL and Java keystore management.
- Expert-level troubleshooting experience with commodity hardware platforms, including previous experience supporting SGI and HP hardware environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a mission-focused team environment while following established standard operating procedures (SOPs), communicating effectively, accepting constructive feedback, and collaborating with senior technical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies while leveraging technical mentorship and team resources to expand technical knowledge.Proven ability to work independently on complex technical assignments while mentoring and training junior team members.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, communicate, coordinate, and oversee complex technical efforts that require collaboration across multiple teams.
- Experience supporting mission-critical systems in an on-call environment and serving as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting and issue resolution. Willingness to participate in on-call rotations is required.
- An active TS/SCI w/Poly is required.

Target Salary Range$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
