ICF, Inc., is seeking an early-mid to mid-career PhD- or PsyD-trained Clinical Psychologist SME with 8 - 12 years of post-doctoral experience to promote the uptake of effective evidence-based clinical practices across the Department of War (DoW) Military Health System (MHS). The successful candidate will apply a clinical perspective to the translation, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based psychological health practices, while helping to scale innovative, evidence-based clinical practices that improve the quality, effectiveness, and consistency of mental health care throughout the MHS. This is primarily a telework position; however, candidates must reside in the Washington, DC Metro Area as on-site work in either Silver Spring, MD or Falls Church, VA could be required on occasion.
The selected candidate will have demonstrated experience with behavioral treatments, issues, and techniques related to psychological conditions most relevant to the military (e.g., substance misuse, trauma resulting from combat and/or sexual assault, suicide risk assessment and intervention, etc.).
Duties and responsibilities:
- Conduct needs assessments and scan relevant published literature to identify mental health care practices, programs, and policies that may be ready for translation and implementation within the MHS.
- Support the conduct of multi-site pilot studies assessing the feasibility and acceptability of implementing novel evidence-based practices across the MHS.
- Capture implementation variance across the pilot sites to identify and document best practices and lessons learned.
- Develop pilot-specific knowledge translation and implementation support tools to promote the understanding and uptake of pilot interventions.
- Develop and execute pilot monitoring tools and data collection mechanisms that capture and assesses the effectiveness of various implementation strategies within and across pilot sites.
- Conduct recurring outreach to participating pilot sites to monitor implementation progress and to facilitate modification of implementation strategies to promote uptake and fidelity of pilot interventions being evaluated.
- Identify, record, and synthesize implementation facilitators and barriers at pilot sites and disseminate lessons learned and best practices to other participating pilot sites.
- Prepare summative reports of pilot activities that include 1) an assessment of the overall feasibility and acceptability of implementing targeted evidence-based practices within the MHS; 2) a comprehensive synthesis of successful implementation strategies to inform system-wide implementation; and 3) a detailed implementation guide informed by study findings to guide expanded implementation.
- Prepare professional manuscripts suitable for submission to peer-reviewed academic journals to disseminate findings and recommendations from pilot studies.
- Assist with development of clinical support products, including succinct written materials or infographics providing psychoeducation and overviews of best practices for providers, patients, and their families.
- Provide logistics and meeting support (scheduling, producing minutes, facilitating, etc.) for mental health-related working groups.
- Accommodate feedback received from multiple client sources on written products to align with agency messaging and strategy
Mandatory Qualifications:
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the degree was granted.
- At least 8 years of full-time post-doctoral work experience directly related to the practice of clinical psychology.
- At least 2 years of experience developing tools or trainings to facilitate the delivery or uptake of evidence-based mental health care practices.
- At least 2 years of experience adopting clinical research findings in healthcare delivery systems (i.e., research translation).
- Ability to demonstrate that you have applied sound organization skills in managing multiple timelines and completing tasks quickly within the constraints of client’s timelines and budgets.
- Capacity to collaborate easily with peers, managers, and clients while leading program development to a completed and successful solution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams and SharePoint).
Desired Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills):
- Prior experience adopting clinical research findings in healthcare delivery systems (i.e., research translation).
- Prior experience executing research translation activities in the mental healthcare space.
- Completed a professional psychology internship program that was accredited by the APA or CPA at the time the program was completed.
- Hold and maintain a current license to practice psychology.
- Prior experience as a federal contractor.
- Prior DoW / Military Mental Health experience.
- Previous peer reviewed publications of relevance to military healthcare.
- Ability and experience communicating effectively (speaking and writing) to diverse audiences in order to convey clinical processes, problems, and solutions.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$89,649.00 - $152,404.00
