Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health and Substance Use Services (ACSS)

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Services or designate, the Clinical Psychologist is in charge of psychological services for Adult Community Support Services (ACSS)and isresponsible for the provision of a full range of psychological assessments/tests, interpretations and treatments for clients and their families. The Clinical Psychologist has full program development responsibility and provides consultation to referral sources regarding issues relevant to the practice of clinical psychology. The Clinical Psychologist provides psychological assessment and diagnosis, and collaborates with physicians and other care providers regarding treatment planning for clients experiencing symptoms of acute mental illness. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Psychologist also participates in guideline development, quality assurance, program development and evaluation, clinical research and education activities.

Education and ExperiencePh.D. in Clinical Psychology from a recognized and accredited learning institution. Five years' recent, related experience in psycho-diagnostic assessment/testing of psychological function and disorders or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated experience working with and leading psychological interventions, consultation, and interdisciplinary team work with complex clients. Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC).Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of developmental theories, family and social dynamics, psychological assessment/testing and interpretation, psychological treatment modalities and mental disorders as defined by the most current version of the DSM or ICD.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective psychological treatment to people with various mental disorders.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to mental health certification in accordance with the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to contribute as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including comprehensive written assessments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to implement guidelines, decision support tools and protocols.
• Demonstrated quality assurance, program evaluation, and research skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, teach and mentor others.
• Ability to plan, implement, organize and prioritize work.
