Our nationally ranked St. Louis Children's Hospital is looking for a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Supervisor to support their Pediatric Critical Care team.

In this role you provide leadership and operational direction for a team of clinical pharmacy specialist supporting the pediatric critical care services at St. Louis Children's Hospital. This position oversees staff performance, development, hiring, workflow management, productivity, and engagement while fostering a collaborative and patient-centered culture. The supervisor partners with Human Resources on recruitment efforts, provides coaching and mentorship through regular one-on-one meetings, coordinates education and training programs, and ensures the team is equipped to deliver exceptional clinical pharmacy services that support optimal patient care and outcomes.

Role Purpose

Assists the pharmacy manager with overseeing clinical, educational, drug use policy and research activities of the department. Provides oversight to the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate drug therapy to achieve optimal cost-effective patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Assess the overall status of the patient's health condition and evaluates medication profile for optimal patient outcomes. Monitors therapy and goals of care. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and communicates activities related to PI, clinical effectives, DUE, drug shortage management and HSO/BJC committees.
  • Coordinates education and training of pharmacy staff, residents/students and serves as role model and mentor.
  • Leads implementation of targeted drug cost reduction programs and ongoing analysis to ensure sustainability.
