Job Description

Position Description:
  • Purpose: The Clinical Specialists provides clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics. Pharmacists provide supervision of pharmacy technicians per South Carolina Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Requirements:
    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (Include physical and mental demands of the position-attach demands checklist if necessary:
      • The position of Clinical Pharmacy Specialist requires a doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy
      • Completion of a two-year ASHP accredited clinical pharmacy residency program or equivalent pharmacy experience
    • LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS (If applicable to position):
      • SC Pharmacist License (or eligible for SC Pharmacist License)
      • Board certification or equivalent credentials within three years of second-year resident graduation
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification: Must be BLS Certified within three months of hire date and maintain certification throughout employment

Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
