Job Summary

The Clinical Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of patient care for multiple clinical specialties by providing direction and direct oversight for the clinical support staff (RN's, LPN's, and PCT's), and in the absence of the physicians, providing clinical insight and support for the practice's non-clinical staff. The Clinical Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to standards of quality care, as well as for identifying
and resolving systems issues and personnel problems with office administration. The Clinical Manager will serve as a role model in providing clinical support for Medical health care services and maintains clinical expertise in this area of practice.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate nursing and clinical support staff. Develop and implement a system for more efficient flow of procedure clinics.
    * Ensure efficiency and safety by providing adequate and functional resources.
    * Clerical areas are monitored and support staff are held responsible for their assignments.
  • Participate in reviews of medical documentation and clinical care (ambulatory QI studies).
    * Ensure that documentation and clinical care is consistent with MMC, HMOs and regulatory agencies' requirements.
    * Clinical Ql and all other pertinent reviews are completed. Evaluations by various agencies of practice clinical activities are satisfactory.
  • Develop and implement a system for providing triage of telephone and in-person patient requests for care.
    * Ensure that urgent and emergent patient concerns are addressed in a competent and timely manner.
    * Clinical guideline for triage are written and implemented Surveys of patients and providers indicate satisfaction with triage.
  • Develop and implement a system of follow-up for laboratory results and clinical care.
    * Ensure high quality and continuous care. Coordinate patient access to interdepartmental services to ensure appropriate patient care in a timely, cost-effective manner.
    * Audits reveal patient notification of lab results in a timely manner. A log of patient contact requested by providers is kept. Surveys of patients and providers indicate satisfaction with this activity.
  • Develop and implement patient education programs including utilization of all available computerized systems.
    * Ensure that patients understand their diagnoses, treatment options, and ways to maintain and improve their health.
    * List of written educational offerings. List of classes presented; surveys of patients and providers indicate satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement systems for monitoring the administration and distribution of medications by the practice.
    * Ensure patient safety and meet requirements of MMC and regulatory agencies.
    * Audit of log utilized for controlled substances.
  • Participate in outreach and education programs.
    * Needed for marketing the practice and for meeting the community's needs.
    * List of outreach and education efforts. Audit if such efforts generate new visits for the practice.
  • Provide practice administrative coverage as needed.
    * Ensure that all aspects of the practice run smoothly in the absence of physicians or practice manager.
    * Assignments are completed by support staff.


Qualifications

  • BSN Required
  • Valid NYS RN license and registration is required.
  • 4-6 years Clinical Experience with demonstrated administrative and management experience.
