Job Summary:

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Physician Assistant (PA), and developing Nursing programs at Marist University seek a highly qualified individual to serve as the Clinical Laboratory Director. This position provides operational, educational, and research leadership for the university's biomechanics and simulation needs, supporting the instructional and scholarly missions of the health professions programs. Working collaboratively with faculty across disciplines, the Director coordinates laboratory resources, ensures the effective functioning of research and teaching spaces, and supports the delivery of high-quality educational experiences that meet accreditation standards. The Director also oversees laboratory operations and staff, maintains equipment and facility readiness, facilitates data collection and analysis, and contributes to ongoing faculty research initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Biomechanics or related field, Engineering (biomedical or mechanical) or Computer Science, Health Sciences, Healthcare Education, Healthcare Admin, Medical Education, Nursing (MSN), Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS, MSPAS), Physical Therapy
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing clinical, teaching, research, or simulation laboratories in a higher education, healthcare, or research setting


Essential Functions:

  • Direct and oversee the daily operations, scheduling, and resource allocation of simulation, instructional, research, and laboratory facilities supporting the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Nursing programs to ensure efficient, safe, and effective utilization.
  • Supervise laboratory staff, student employees, and assistants; provide training, consultation, and technical support to faculty, staff, and students regarding laboratory equipment, simulation technologies, safety procedures, biomechanical systems, and research methodologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop, implement, facilitate, and evaluate simulation and laboratory-based learning experiences that support program learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and student competency development.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols; ensure compliance with institutional, professional, regulatory, and accreditation requirements; and maintain accurate records, reports, inventories, and assessment documentation.
  • Manage laboratory and simulation equipment, technology, and software, including procurement, setup, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, inventory control, vendor coordination, and budget-related purchasing activities to maintain operational readiness.
  • Provide technical, operational, and analytical support for faculty and student research activities, including biomechanical analysis, participant testing, data acquisition, data management, protocol implementation, and research-related reporting and dissemination. Analyze, organize, and communicate research and laboratory data through reports, presentations, and other scholarly or administrative formats.
  • Advance laboratory, simulation, and research capabilities by evaluating emerging technologies, educational methodologies, and research practices; supporting program assessment efforts; and recommending improvements to facilities, services, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with simulation technologies, including high-fidelity manikins, standardized patient programs, audiovisual capture systems, scenario development, and simulation operations.
  • Experience operating and maintaining biomechanics and human movement analysis equipment, such as motion capture systems, force plates, electromyography (EMG) systems, and/or wearable sensors and gait analysis technology.

    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
