Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, University of Michigan, is expanding in Southeast Michigan and invites applications for academic faculty positions in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional care for patients and families in our Level IV NICU, as well as a strong interest in advancing their academic careers. Successful candidates will be able to convey their passion for the field and their potential to contribute meaningfully to our tripartite mission of research, medical education, and clinical care.
Your clinical responsibilities will be under the direction of the Division's Service Chief, Dr. Parul Cham, and the Division Director, Dr. Naomi Laventhal. These responsibilities will include serving as an attending physician in the Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit. In this role, you will serve as the rounding attending on one of our clinical service teams for approximately ten to fourteen weeks per 12-month year, with coverage consisting of seven day shifts per week during assigned service weeks.
You will also serve as the "resource attending" or "consult attending", depending on your expertise and interests, for approximately five to ten weeks per year, with coverage consisting of five day shifts per week. In addition, you will participate in night call, including both weekday and weekend nights, which will be divided among Division faculty based on appointed effort. Night call is currently in-house and includes either supplemental payment for each night of call or equivalent remuneration over the course of the year.
The specific distribution of NICU attending service and night call will be determined at the discretion of the Service Chief and Division Director. These estimates may be affected by unexpected changes in Division staffing. While on service and on call, you will also be expected to participate in the clinical training of medical students, nurse practitioner students, house officers, and neonatology fellows, as well as in the supervision and education of neonatal nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants. Work site locations may change based on staffing needs.
