Qualifications

Short Description

 Reporting to the Manager of the Clinical Documentation Team the Clinical Documentation Educator, through diverse assignments, supports and participates in educational activities to improve of the quality, completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation for Cooper University Physicians (CUP.)

Experience Required

Physician coding and compliance experience with significant emphasis on/strong background in Evaluation and Management services.

 

Training and presentation experience with physicians and other clinicians both individually and in groups.

 

Accomplished in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations and other supplemental training materials.

 

Previous work experience in the auditing and coding of professional clinical documentation; both handwritten and electronic medical records.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associates degree in Nursing or other relevant Associate degree also considered.  

License/Certification Requirements

CPC and/or CCS-P; Nursing certification and/or Compliance certification a plus

 

Valid Driver’s License (will need to travel to CUH satellite locations as necessary)

Special Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications needed to perform in position; Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. 

 

Confident and professional public speaker with exemplary verbal and written communication skills. 

Well-versed in using, referring to and researching CMS and other federal and local clinical documentation and compliance guidelines, CPT, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS codes, Evaluation and Management Documentation Guidelines and PATH guidelines.
