As a part EllisDon's Climate and Sustainability team, you will help project teams deliver sustainability commitments while supporting the company's transition to a low-carbon economy. The team operates as a centre of excellence that works alongside project teams and business leaders to turn client requirements and climate goals into practical, measurable outcomes.
In this role, you will work across projects to integrate sustainability into how EllisDon plans, builds, and delivers projects. You will collaborate with teams across the country to address complex challenges, guide decision-making, and help teams turn sustainability requirements into practical actions that align with project realities.
Success in this role requires strong collaboration, clear communication, and the ability to influence teams towards practical solutions that improve sustainable outcomes while supporting project delivery.
You as a 'Climate and Sustainability Manager' will:
- Collaborate with project teams across the country to integrate sustainability goals into projectplanning and delivery, follow through on contract requirements, and guide practical strategies that balance client expectations with project constraints. `
- Provide guidance on embodied carbon, operational energy/carbon, construction site emissions, climate risk and resiliency, and sustainability certification systems as they relate to project delivery.
- Support project start-up activities and tracking processes to help teams manage sustainability commitments and address delivery challenges.
- Support pursuit teams by helping define credible sustainability approaches that reflect both client expectations and construction realities.
- Contribute to internal initiatives and support the implementation of EllisDon's Corporate Climate Change Strategy, including emissions tracking and reporting at both corporate and project levels.
- Work with business units to develop and scale practical solutions, tools, and approaches that reduce emissions and improve sustainability outcomes across projects and construction operations.
- Communicate effectively with project teams and leadership to build alignment around sustainability practices, using strong relationship-building and persuasion skills to help teams adopt practical sustainability practices within project delivery.
- Represent EllisDon at industry events and stay current on industry standards, regulations, and emerging practices in sustainable construction.
Is this the right role for you?
- You have 5-8 years' experience integrating sustainability into the built environment, ideally within design, construction, or building operations.
- You have post-secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, or a related design/construction discipline. Experience in Institutional or Commercial construction and/or a Project Manager role is considered an asset.
- You are familiar with sustainability frameworks such as Toronto Green Standard, LEED, WELL, Envision, and Zero Carbon Building Certification, and understand carbon accounting oremissions tracking concepts.
- You are comfortable working across multiple projects and teams, translating evolving sustainability requirements into practical actions, while communicating complex ideas clearly.
- You are skilled at influencing and guiding teams, helping stakeholders with different priorities align on practical solutions that support both project delivery and sustainability outcomes.
- You are willing to travel within Canada based on project needs. Work requires very light physical exertion, limited visual and/or auditory concentration, manual dexterity and/or strain.
- The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $115,000.
