Full Job Description
Location Requirement
Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment. We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States.
About the role
The AV Litigation Adjuster manages suits arising from autonomous and driver-assist vehicle incidents from the day of service through resolution. AV suits often add product-liability and technology claims to a standard negligence case, so the role directs defense counsel, controls discovery of sensitive technical data, and drives early, well-supported resolution.
What you'll do
Manage the litigation inventory: assign and direct defense counsel, approve plans and budgets, and review bills against guidelines
Build the liability and damages case with counsel using vehicle data, video, software and sensor records, and expert input, while coordinating discovery and preservation holds that protect proprietary technical information
Retain and manage experts, including accident reconstruction, AV systems and human-factors, medical, and economic specialists
Evaluate exposure, set reserves, and prepare reserve and settlement recommendations for carrier and client review
Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trial as needed, negotiating resolution within authority and pursuing contribution, indemnity, and subrogation against manufacturers, suppliers, and other parties
Track emerging AV case law, state statutes, and regulatory developments, and report on inventory, trends, and key cases to the Team Lead and client partners
Who you are
Detailed understanding of the SAE J3016 levels of driving automation (Levels 0-5), including how driver-assist (Levels 0-2) and driverless (Levels 3-5) systems shift responsibility among the human, the system, and the operator
Determine who or what was in control at the time of loss: human driver, driver-assist feature, or automated driving system
Request, preserve, and read AV evidence, including telematics, event data, camera and sensor footage, remote-assistance logs, and software version
Apply coverage, liability, and damages analysis across fleet-operator, manufacturer, supplier, and third-party exposures
Work with AV operator safety, legal, and risk teams under tight response timelines while meeting federal and state crash-reporting, privacy, and data-handling requirements
Document files so a supervisor, carrier, or auditor can follow the liability decision
Qualifications
6-8+ years of litigated casualty claims experience; commercial auto, rideshare, trucking, or product liability preferred
Juris Doctor or equivalent litigation experience is a plus
Demonstrated authority and track record settling litigated BI and property claims
Strong counsel-management, budgeting, and negotiation skills
Ability to explain technical AV evidence clearly to counsel, mediators, and carriers
Bachelor's degree or equivalent claims experience
Active adjuster license(s) as required by the states handled, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Proficiency in the claims system, document management, and Microsoft Office
Clear written and verbal communication with claimants, counsel, carriers, and client partners
Benefits
Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
401(k) retirement plan with employer matching

Work toward reducing and eliminating all the administrative work from an adjuster role
