Full Job Description
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure for large scale land developments, master planned communities, mixed used projects, commercial and industrial projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements
  • Evaluate design/construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater management and conveyance, underground utility systems and installation, erosion control, concrete flatwork, asphalt pavements, and hardscape systems
  • May investigate matters involving:
    • design of site-visibility at intersections, vehicular use areas, parking lots, pedestrian and vehicular ingress/egress ways
    • the applicability of MUTCD and ADA standards
    • preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil/site construction plans related to DOT, water management districts, and various municipalities
    • municipal zoning and variance hearings
    • code, regulations, and standards interpretation and application.
    • Stormwater management quantity and quality design, above and below ground
    • Floodplain delineation
    • Stormwater collection and conveyance systems
    • Sediment and erosion control design and inspections
    • Hydrology and hydraulics design
    • Site grading design
    • Development processes during design and construction
    • Close out procedures of land development projects
    • Failure modes of infrastructure systems
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
  • Responsible for retention and development of client relations
  • Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
  • Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance

Position Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel on a variable schedule, including 50% of the time locally and 20% of the time overnight
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
  • Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
  • Ability to work at various heights on structures
  • Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to drive in all conditions
  • Ability to fly on airplanes
