DescriptionWe are looking for a strategic and highly motivated Senior Civil Project Engineer (PE) to serve as a key leader within our Land Development division. This is a high-impact role where you will act as the "right hand" to our Principal Engineer, helping to steer the firm's project portfolio and internal operations. You will be responsible for leading complex site development projects from entitlement through construction, maintaining direct client relationships, and mentoring our rising junior staff.
Annual Base Salary: $86,000 - $111,000

RequirementsKey Responsibilities- Project Leadership & Delivery: Oversee the full lifecycle of commercial, residential, and mixed-use land development projects. Ensure technical excellence in grading, drainage, utility design, and site layout while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Principal Support & Strategy: Act as a strategic partner to the Principal Engineer, assisting with resource allocation, proposal preparation, and the refinement of internal design standards.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for developers, architects, and stakeholders. You will lead client meetings, navigate public hearings, and provide expert representation during the municipal approval process.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Provide direct technical oversight and career mentorship to EITs and Junior Designers. You will be responsible for QA/QC plan reviews and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
- Regulatory Navigation: Lead the strategy for complex permitting efforts, coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies to clear project hurdles and secure entitlements.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new project opportunities with existing clients and assist in the firm's geographic or sector-specific expansion.
Qualifications & Requirements- Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (state-specific or ability to obtain via comity).
- Experience: 5-12+ years of experience in civil site development, with at least 3 years in a project management or leadership capacity.
- Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and site geometry, along with a firm grasp of the local entitlement and permitting landscape.
- Software: Advanced proficiency inAutoCAD Civil 3D and various stormwater modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, PondPack).
- Leadership Traits: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, a desire to mentor others, and the "owner-mindset" required to work alongside firm leadership.
