Full Job Description
Passero Associates is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team and report to our St. Augustine, FL office. In this role, you will plan, design, and support delivery of site development, municipal, and airport infrastructure projects throughout the Southeast, including site geometry, grading, drainage and erosion control, pavement, utilities, stormwater management, quantity takeoffs, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.

The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of progressive consulting engineering experience and be prepared to take increasing responsibility for technical design, project coordination, client communication, and mentoring. Depending on experience and licensure, the position may include task leadership and project management responsibilities from concept development through construction closeout.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review conceptual, preliminary, and final civil engineering designs, construction plans, permitting documents, technical specifications, engineering reports, and cost estimates.
  • Perform and coordinate engineering design for grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, pavement, erosion control, site geometry, and related infrastructure.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software to develop, evaluate, and document design solutions.
  • Apply applicable local, state, and federal design criteria, including municipal standards, FDOT requirements, FAA criteria, and permitting requirements as appropriate.
  • Coordinate technical work with project managers, engineers, designers, surveyors, subconsultants, clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
  • Lead defined project tasks or smaller projects, including scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and internal coordination, based on experience.
  • Perform technical reviews and quality-control checks and support implementation of company design and documentation standards.
  • Prepare and support permit applications and coordinate responses to agency review comments.
  • Provide construction administration services, including submittal review, RFIs, field observations, change documentation, and project closeout.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to a collaborative, accountable project-team environment.
  • Support client development, proposal preparation, fee development, and project interviews as experience progresses.


Qualifications/Experience:

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program preferred.
  • 6-10 years of progressive civil engineering experience; consulting experience in municipal, site development, transportation, or aviation infrastructure preferred.
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain Florida licensure within a reasonable period. EIT required for candidates not yet licensed.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with stormwater/hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil/infrastructure design principles, permitting, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Ability to independently complete engineering analyses and design assignments and effectively coordinate the work of others.
  • Strong client-service, communication, organization, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience preparing scopes, schedules, fee estimates, and managing project tasks is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; periodic travel to project sites and client meetings is required.
  • Ability to report to the St. Augustine, FL office.
