What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking a highly motivated Bridge Design Engineer in support of our growing Philadelphia Bridge Practice. The ideal candidate will be able to perform conventional and complex bridge and structure designs, and load ratings.

What You'll Do:
  • Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations using Midas, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD, and other similar software tools
  • Develop structural details and construction plans using MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ORD.
  • Assist and check design calculations performed by others
  • Prepare geometric layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with other disciplines effectively
  • Adherence to scope, schedule and budget for structure tasks
  • Ability to support bridge and structure proposal development through strong technical writing
  • Build and maintain critical relationships within the organization and with clients such as PennDOT, PTC, City of Philadelphia, DRPA, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the Port Authority of NY and NJ.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 5+ years of bridge related design experience. Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structures is desired.
  • PE license in PA and/or NJ. NY a plus.
  • Understanding of AASHTO LRFD design and complex structural analysis software such Midas including and CSi Bridge is required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is also required.
  • Experience with road and/or rail bridge rehabilitation design, seismic analysis, and rating analysis is desired. Additional transportation/infrastructure agencies located in the Northeast is also a plus.
  • Project involvement with multiple disciplines such as roadway, drainage, geotechnical, environmental.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications, excellent organizational skills and strong design skills with a willingness to help with proposal efforts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position is $98,000-$150,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
