Civil Design Engineer opportunity in
Oak Ridge, TN at the
Y-12 National Security Complex.
Description:Civil Design Engineers will be responsible for developing high-quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant facilities.
- Effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task and will routinely provide input to system engineers and other plant customers.
- Routinely perform walk downs in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.
- Provide self-performed technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems through the application of established engineering practices, codes and standards.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to storm and storm drain designs and modifications, road design, soil evaluation, and oversight of outside engineering firms.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 5 - 20+ years of relevant experience
- Technical expertise and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field of Civil Engineering
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees
- Must be willing to work in a production environment
- Must be familiar with consensus design codes.
- CAD drafting experience is preferred

- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance. Active Q preferred.
