Commerce media is one of the fastest-growing segments in advertising, and Citi is bringing its powerful assets to launch a new media offering. With 70MM+ cardmembers, 6.5 billion annual transactions, and visibility across 700+ merchant categories, Citi has the scale, the trust, and the data infrastructure to compete at the highest level.

Where retailers see spending only within their own ecosystem, Citi sees actual purchase behavior across the full customer wallet, spanning categories, merchants, and channels. That cross-wallet visibility, combined with Citi's direct relationships with tens of millions of engaged, digitally active customers, creates a compelling foundation for advertisers who want to reach high-intent audiences and measure real outcomes.

We're building Citi Ads, Citi's Commerce Media business, from the ground up, and we're looking for a driven, commercially minded sales professional who knows the advertising landscape and is ready to help bring a genuinely differentiated offering to market.

Job Summary

The Account Executive is a commercial individual contributor responsible for supporting revenue growth for Citi Ads by identifying, prospecting, and closing advertising partnerships with brands and agencies, as well as partnering with advertisers to ensure client success and grow the business. Reporting to the Head of Advertising Partnerships, this individual will manage the end-to-end sales process from pipeline development and relationship building to pitch execution and campaign commitment, while serving as a trusted partner to advertisers on how to leverage Citi's unique first-party data and commerce media capabilities.

This is a high-impact role at the forefront of Citi's emerging media business. The Account Executive will work cross-functionally with media planning, data, product, and measurement teams to translate advertiser goals into tailored solutions, contributing to the commercial momentum of Citi Ads as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and grow a portfolio of advertiser relationships, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across brand direct and agency channels
  • Support the end-to-end advertiser pitch process from initial outreach and discovery through proposal development, negotiation, and campaign commitment
  • Contribute to the structure of initial campaigns and proof-of-concept engagements, including audience support levels and measurement frameworks
  • Act as a trusted partner to brands and agencies, translating client marketing objectives into tailored media solutions leveraging Citi's first-party data and closed-loop measurement
  • Participate in client meetings with senior stakeholders at prospective and existing client organizations, building relationships that evolve from test campaigns into recurring investment
  • Support Citi Ads' presence at industry events and forums, developing relationships across agencies and brand-direct marketing teams
  • Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and track key commercial metrics including revenue attainment, deal velocity, and client retention
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency


Qualifications
Required
  • 6-10 years of experience in advertising sales, with a track record of closing deals with brands and/or agencies
  • Demonstrated experience working with advertising partners to ensure mutual success and drive long-term client growth
  • Experience selling media or advertising products, with the ability to translate product capabilities into compelling client narratives
  • Relationships across the advertising ecosystem, including agencies and brand-direct organizations
  • Experience in solution selling, with the ability to understand client objectives and design tailored media solutions
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to support deal structuring, negotiation, and closing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable in fast-moving, high-growth environments
Preferred
  • Experience in commerce media, retail media, card linked offers, or financial services advertising strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with first-party data, audience targeting, and closed-loop measurement (e.g., ROAS, spend lift, conversion attribution)
  • Background in launching or scaling a new media product or advertising business unit
  • Existing relationships with senior marketing decision-makers at major brands
Education
  • Bachelor's/University degree required
