TITLE: Chief Structural EngineerOverview: The Chief Structural Engineers provide expertise and support in a variety of areas including:
- Structural Steel Design
- Foundation Design
- Concrete Design
- Vibration Analysis
- Assist with Sales and Marketing
- Assist with Staff Forecasting
- Preparation of proposals for design services
- Assist with Project Cost Control
REPORTS TO: President
BASIC DUTIES:
- Civil/Structural Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detail Design
- Manage staff of Structural Engineers and Designers (currently 6).
- Communicate directly to clients on projects.
- Assist and direct preparation of proposals for new work.
- Assist in development of Engineering cost estimates for construction.
- Quality Control of structural work for the company.
- Structural staff performance reviews.
- Assist with sales and marketing with perspective clients.
- Assist with project cost control.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Engineering
- Direct and select criteria for design of structures for wide range of projects.
- Understand and utilize codes and standards for structural projects.
- Analysis and design of structural systems in concrete, structural steel and platework.
- Perform design of foundations and retaining walls.
- Vibration studies and analysis.
- Oversee all technical aspects of structural project work.
- Project Management
- Provides technical guidance and oversight to designers and engineers.
- Assists in project management of projects and manages some projects.
- Responsible for discipline planning and coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Structural or other discipline such as Civil or Architectural)
- 10-20 years' experience in Structural engineering (preferably related to construction or heavy industrial)
- Licensed Professional Engineer required.
