Position Summary:Reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer and serves as part of the senior executive group. Assists in the development of and is responsible for carrying out goals, objectives, plans and policies for all areas of responsibility. Ensures Hospital services are delivered in accordance with quality and financial standards. Working through department heads, provides administrative oversight and direction at McLaren Bay West and West Branch facilities in addition to the clinical and support services functions such as Clinical Engineering, Facilities/ Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Nutritional Services, Diagnostic Imaging, and Laboratory at the main campus.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:1. Support the organization's total quality management culture and values, as demonstrated through decision-making, process improvements, and interactions with others.
- Directs the formulation and implementation of hospital policies and objectives for areas of responsibility.
- Assists department managers and directors in developing long and short-term goals, objectives, plans and budgets for areas of responsibility. Secures approval of and monitors adherence to agreed-upon goals, objectives, plans, and budgets.
- Assists department managers and directors in resolving a variety of administrative problems including staffing, equipment and supply acquisition, facilities planning, and so forth.
- Works closely with physicians to address problems identifying improvement opportunities and continually adjust programs and services to meet the customers' needs.
- Conducts strategic planning activities for each of the service lines. Facilitates and delegates the implementation of the plan.
- Recommends purchases of major operational and capital items within areas of responsibility.
- Conducts or directs study of determination-of-need and cost-benefit analyses for proposed new programs, equipment, and services.
- Reviews records and reports concerning division operations. Assesses extent to which goals are being met and, when necessary, directs changes in records and reporting systems, preparation of special reports and analyses, and/or initiates corrective action.
- Ensures assigned functions are in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, and accrediting agency rules; initiates corrective action when necessary.
- Interviews, hires, trains, directs, evaluates the performance of and, when necessary, disciplines and discharges department managers and directors. Assists staff with difficult employee relations' problems.
- Serves as resource person/consultant to other senior management personnel on specific divisional and/or hospital-wide problems.
- As a member of hospital administrative management group, regularly participates in development of hospital-wide plans, goals, and objectives.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate journals, books, and other literature and attending related conferences and seminars.
- Working through staff executives, ensures the Hospital's financial, public relations, employee relations and legal positions are sound and McLaren is adequately protected in these matters, plays a major role in the resolution of important problems in these areas.
- Conducts physician manpower analysis, as necessary, to ensure appropriate physician sub-specialty representation in primary and secondary services areas.

Qualifications:Required:
• Master Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• An experienced hospital executive who has proved to be a capable leader in a series of increasingly responsible hospital positions
Preferred:
• Eight or more years management experience in hospital administration.
