Job Title: Chief of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS)

Position #:

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and the delivery of evidence-based clinical care. The primary responsibility will be to lead integrated clinical and investigative programs that advance the department's strategic priorities. This individual will direct the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, ensuring excellence in patient care, medical education for students, residents, and fellows, and the development of high-impact research that informs clinical practice. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

Position Highlights
• Serve as the academic and clinical leader of the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) Division, responsible for strategic direction, operational oversight, and faculty development.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, retention, and performance evaluation of physician faculty and advanced practice providers.
• Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the Department's mission, vision, and values.
• Work collaboratively with the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology to ensure the financial stability of the division through appropriate resource allocation and fiscal stewardship.

Education & Mentorship
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to faculty in key educational roles. Cultivate an outstanding learning environment for medical students, residents, and fellows by modeling excellence in learner supervision, bedside teaching, and clinical skills development.
• Promote, support, and assess faculty development in academic advancement, teaching excellence, leadership, and ongoing professional growth.
• Encourage and facilitate the integration of innovative educational strategies and curricular advancements.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado

The University of Colorado Department of OB/GYN is one of the largest departments in the country with > 150 faculty, a large residency program, and a fellowship in Urogynecology

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Completion of fellowship training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
• Have attained or be eligible for Colorado medical licensure and board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Demonstrated leadership experience within academic medicine, including clinical program development, medical education, and health system operation
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and team-building skill
• Proven record of delivering outstanding clinical care and exercising collaborative, effective leadership
• Evidence of scholarly achievement, program development, excellence in education, and commitment to faculty mentorship
• Proven ability to recruit, develop, support, and manage faculty and staff across clinical, educational, and research mission
• Strong commitment to clinical excellence, medical education, and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Minimum rank of Associate Professor

Associate Professor:
• 4+ years in a comparable Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and be at the rank of Associate Professor or above
• Education:

o Doctor of Medicine degree

o Fellowship trained in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery

o Board certified in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
• Experience:

o Associate Professor / Professor Level with experience in academic leadership
• Special Skills:

o Ability to obtain a Colorado MD license

Professor:
• 7+ years in a comparable Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and be at the rank of Professor or above.
• Education:

o Doctor of Medicine degree

o Fellowship trained in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery

o Board certified in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
• Experience:

o Associate Professor / Professor Level with experience in academic leadership
• Special Skills:

o Ability to obtain a Colorado MD license

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Associate Professor: $350,000 - 410,000

Professor: $430,000 - 510,000

The annual stipend for the Division Chief has been established at $30,000 in addition to 0.30 FTE of protected time.

This position is eligible to participate in a metric-based incentive following 12 months of employment.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
