Position Purpose The Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer is a trusted strategic partner who enables the COO and senior operating leadership team to execute TAIT's enterprise priorities with clarity, discipline, and pace.
Operating across Markets, Capabilities, Regions, Enablers, and local operations, the Chief of Staff connects strategy, decisions, and execution. The role manages the COO's operating agenda, coordinates cross-enterprise priorities, prepares leaders for critical decisions, and ensures that commitments are translated into accountable action and measurable results.
The Chief of Staff works closely with the Capability e Leadership Team, Regional Leaders, other enterprise functions to maintain a consistent view of business performance, strategic initiatives, risks, dependencies, and decisions. The role helps identify emerging issues, resolve barriers, and focus leadership attention on the matters that create the greatest enterprise value.
This position requires strong business judgment, executive presence, analytical capability, and the ability to influence across a complex global organization without relying on direct authority. The successful candidate will be a practical, low-ego leader who handles sensitive information with discretion, brings structure to ambiguity, and combines strategic thinking with disciplined follow-through.
Responsibilities Strategic Partnership and Executive Support - Serve as a trusted adviser and thought partner to the Chief Operating Officer on enterprise priorities, operating performance, organizational effectiveness, and leadership matters.
- Help translate the COO's objectives into a clear agenda, sequenced priorities, and actionable plans.
- Provide independent analysis, perspective, and recommendations on complex operating and organizational issues.
- Anticipate matters requiring the COO's attention and ensure timely preparation, coordination, and decision-making.
- Support the COO in balancing short-term operating demands with longer-term strategic and organizational priorities.
- Represent the COO in selected meetings and workstreams, communicating context, decisions, and expectations accurately.
- Handle confidential business, organizational, client, and people matters with sound judgment and discretion.
Enterprise Planning and Execution - Coordinate the translation of COO strategy into operating priorities, integrated plans, milestones, and performance commitments.
- Maintain a consolidated view of the COO organization's priorities, decisions, risks, dependencies, and commitments.
- Connect related work across Markets, Capabilities, Regions, Enablers, and local operations to improve alignment and prevent duplication or gaps.
- Identify execution barriers, competing priorities, and unresolved dependencies and facilitate timely resolution.
- Ensure strategic decisions are converted into clear actions, owners, deadlines, measures, and escalation paths.
- Track progress against enterprise commitments and ensure recovery actions are established when execution moves off plan.
- Support annual planning, quarterly business reviews, investment prioritization, and other enterprise planning processes.
Executive Operating Cadence and Governance - Design, coordinate, and continuously improve the COO's operating cadence, including leadership meetings, business reviews, decision forums, and planning sessions.
- Develop focused agendas that prioritize decisions, material exceptions, cross-functional issues, and forward-looking risks.
- Ensure leaders are appropriately prepared and that meeting materials provide concise, accurate, and decision-ready information.
- Document decisions, accountabilities, deadlines, and follow-up actions and ensure commitments carried through to completion.
- Establish consistent templates, standards, and working practices for executive reviews and operating discussions.
- Coordinate with the CEO's office and other executive offices to align enterprise calendars, governance forums, and leadership priorities.
- Reduce unnecessary complexity and meeting load while improving the quality and speed of executive decision-making.
Performance Insight and Decision Support - Partner with Finance, and business leaders to provide the COO with a trusted view of financial, operational, commercial, project, people, client, safety, and risk performance.
- Synthesize complex information into clear insights, options, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
- Identify trends, exceptions, root causes, and emerging risks that require leadership attention.
- Prepare executive briefings, presentations, Board materials, decision papers, and other communications for the COO.
- Challenge incomplete assumptions, unclear ownership, and inconsistent information constructively.
- Ensure performance discussions focus on material issues, forward-looking indicators, corrective actions, and measurable outcomes.
- Support the development and refinement of enterprise scorecards and operating metrics.
Position Requirements- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required; an MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in strategy, operations, transformation, consulting, program management, or a related discipline.
- Meaningful experience working directly with C-suite or senior executive leaders.
- Proven success coordinating complex, cross-functional work across multiple business units, functions, or regions.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality in high-trust environments.
- Significant experience in strategy, operations, transformation, consulting, program leadership, or a Chief of Staff role within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated success supporting senior executives and coordinating priorities across a matrixed, international business.
- Strong understanding of business operations, financial performance, project delivery, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise risk.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from definition through implementation and measurable results.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including familiarity with revenue, margin, cash, working capital, forecasting, and investment decisions.
- Experience designing executive operating cadences, governance processes, scorecards, and performance reviews.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive and Board-level materials.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, facilitate difficult discussions, and build alignment without direct authority.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities, sensitive issues, and tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- High levels of integrity, discretion, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment.
- Comfortable working across regions, cultures, time zones, and organizational levels.
- Experience in a project-based, engineering, manufacturing, technology, entertainment, construction, or experiential business is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally in support of leadership meetings, projects, locations, and strategic priorities.
