Full Job Description
The Chief Inspector will ensure all maintenance, repair, and alteration work of rotorcraft and components is performed in accordance with applicable maintenance and regulatory requirements. The Chief Inspector reports to the Senior Quality Manager of the Quality department.
Responsibilities
Ensure the Repair Station complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and manufacturer recommendations, and that all maintenance, repair, and alteration work is performed in accordance with applicable requirements.
Ensure technicians are familiar with the Repair Station & Quality Manual, product specifications and data, Type Certificate Data Sheets, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other FAA-approved technical data.
Ensure defective, unairworthy, or unapproved parts are not used for maintenance or repair.
Oversee the proper tagging and identification of all parts and components in accordance with the Repair Station & Quality Manuals.
Approve aircraft and components for return to service after all applicable CFR requirements and approved technical data requirements have been met.
Ensure certificated and non-certificated personnel performing inspections are appropriately qualified based on training, knowledge, experience, and demonstrated competency.
Support the development and implementation of quality standards, methods, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable technical data and regulatory requirements.
Support initial, recurrent, and remedial training programs to continually strengthen employees' technical capabilities and knowledge of applicable procedures, regulations, and requirements.
Maintain effective working relationships with local regulatory authorities to support the Repair Station's continued compliance and successful operation.
Follow established procedures for completing, maintaining, and filing all inspection forms and documentation used by the Repair Station.
Perform conformity inspections on Part 21 products and articles.
Review and sign FAA Form 8130-3 Airworthiness Approvals for Part 21 products when authorized by the FAA as a DMIR.
Review Part 145 Repair Station aircraft and component work orders for return to service.
Review and sign FAA Form 8130-3 Airworthiness Approvals for Part 145 aircraft and components, as applicable.
Generate and maintain component service cards.
Perform other duties as assigned or required by the Senior Quality Assurance Manager.
Required Qualifications
Diploma in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Quality Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
Minimum of 4 years of aircraft-related quality experience.
Minimum of 10 years of technical experience working with Part 91 aircraft.
Experience working within a highly regulated quality assurance environment.
Strong working knowledge of applicable FAA regulations and requirements, including FAR Parts 43, 91, and 145.
Knowledge of FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Airworthiness Directives, Form 337, Form 8100-1, Form 8130-3, STCs, and other applicable aviation documentation.
Ability to meet the eligibility requirements for appointment as an FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) within 12 months of accepting the position.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively use software applications utilized throughout the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
Experience with EASA Part 145 requirements.
