Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Department: Accounting

Reports To: General Manager & COO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic business partner to the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO), Board of Directors, and department leaders. The CFO provides leadership and oversight of all financial functions of the Club, ensuring financial integrity, transparency, long-term sustainability, and alignment with the Club's strategic goals.

The CFO is responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting operations, treasury management, capital planning, internal controls, risk management, and financial reporting. The CFO works closely with the General Manager, Board of Governors and Finance Committee to support informed decision-making while maintaining the Club's fiduciary responsibilities to its membership.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Analyze, present, and articulate the financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements to the senior management team, Finance Committee and Board of Governors.
  • Work with the senior management team to prepare annual operating and capital short- and long-term operating plans and budgets.
  • Proactive analysis of operating financial data to provide the senior management team with timely information of unfavorable financial results or variances, their causes and prepared to offer preliminary explanations and the appropriate counter measures that need to be taken.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the Audit Committee.
  • Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the General Manager and the senior management team.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to, and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department's overall policy and procedure manual.
  • Oversee investment decisions of the working capital accounts.
  • Identify and evaluate risks and mitigation plans; maintain insurance records, communicate incident reporting to the insurance carriers, and ensure that appropriate coverage levels are maintained.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training and coaching of the accounting / financial team which consists of Accounting, Controlling and Payroll.
  • Key player in the evaluation and training of financial, point of sale and all operational electronic equipment and operations systems.
  • Oversee every aspect of Accounting and Financial Operations of the Club and POA.

Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • At least 5 years in a senior-level finance position.
  • Private club, hospitality, resort, residential community association, or luxury service industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with boards, committees, and governance structures preferred.


Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred.


  • Experience with Jonas or accounting systems preferred
  • Experience in a private club or hospitality environment preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
