Chief Engineer - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Chief Engineer at JLL, you will lead the daily operations, maintenance, and performance of critical building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations. This role is responsible for managing engineering teams, maintaining operational excellence, and supporting client objectives through proactive maintenance strategies, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in protecting and enhancing the value of client assets by ensuring building systems operate at peak performance while maintaining a strong focus on safety, uptime, and customer satisfaction.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and critical building systems to ensure optimal facility performance.
  • Lead and supervise engineering and maintenance staff, ensuring work orders, preventive maintenance activities, and operational objectives are completed effectively and on schedule.
  • Implement and manage preventive and reliability-based maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset life.
  • Monitor building systems, review operational logs, identify equipment issues, and coordinate corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Manage contractor activities, vendor relationships, inventory levels, and purchase orders to support ongoing building operations.
  • Support operational improvement initiatives, staff training programs, and client-driven projects while fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of facility operations or engineering experience, including supervisory and leadership responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, fluid handling systems, and facility maintenance operations.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs, equipment inspections, and operational compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated customer service and leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management programs.
  • Knowledge of commercial facility regulatory compliance and safety standards.
  • Certification in facilities management or project management.
  • Experience leading reliability-centered maintenance initiatives and operational improvement programs.
  • Ability to support emergency response activities and after-hours operational needs.

Work Shift: 08 Hour Day - 1st Shift/Morning Shift
