Position OverviewThe Chief Development Officer (CDO) will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as a supporter of The Worker's mission, vision, and growth. The CDO is responsible for developing and executing fundraising initiatives and programs to help achieve our organization's overall mission and goals. This position involves researching, prospecting, cultivating, and managing relationships with donors, as well as coordinating fundraising activities. The CDO ensures that the Organization's development efforts are successful, and that donor support is maximized.
Functions of PositionThe CDO will build revenue for The Worker through donations and fundraising efforts. This position will include planning major fundraising campaigns, utilizing social media to create awareness, and communicating with the Executive Team regarding revenue and expenses. Work duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement fundraising plans to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals.
- Research prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors.
- Prepare and submit proposals to solicit donations.
- Manage and track donor records, contact information, and history.
- Organize and maintain development materials, presentations, and events.
- Develop and implement recognition and stewardship strategies.
- Prepare fundraising reports, budgets, and other related documents.
- Maintain apprised of ongoing fundraising trends, techniques, and technology.
Required Skills, Attributes, and Knowledge:- Demonstrated success in managing and meeting fundraising goals.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software.
- Travel between The Worker sites is required for meetings, trainings, or coverage purposes.
- Evening or weekend hours required on an as-needed basis for purposes of participation in fundraising events or other business-related activities.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to hire.
Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in fundraising, marketing, communications, philanthropy, or related field.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in fundraising and development required.
