Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Chair and Professor- Boca Raton, FL

The College of Education (COE) at Florida Atlantic University is accepting applications for department chair of Curriculum and Instruction (). The department chair serves as senior faculty member and administrator of the academic department. At the departmental level, this person is responsible for faculty recruitment and development; instructional program development and quality enhancement; coordination of departmental research and service programs; evaluation of personnel; and, through the dean, representing the department within and beyond the university. The chair also maintains relationships with students, other administrators, university councils and committees, alumni, professional organizations, and various other public and private groups. In conjunction with the COE dean, the chair develops the department's annual budget request, manages the course schedule of the department’s 15+ undergraduate and graduate programs, administers expenditures of the allocated funds, works closely with department program coordinators and program committees, evaluates faculty and staff, and manages other resources available to the department. The chair facilitates effective relationships within and across department programs and, as a member of the COE's leadership team, works collaboratively with the dean and other unit leaders to guide the work of the COE.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related area from an accredited institution; hold rank of full professor at the time of appointment required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Leadership in preservice and in-service teacher education or related areas.
• Administrative, managerial, and financial knowledge and skills to effectively lead an academic department.
• Success as a collaborative leader, with effective communication and interpersonal skills in an environment that encourages engagement with varied perspectives and experiences.
• Record of teaching/ research/ service demonstrating commitment to public education.
• Experience and success working in constructive partnerships with large school districts.
