Description
Certinia ERP & Business Applications Specialist
Department: Finance
Position Location: Charlotte, NC
Reports To: Controller
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
SOLID Surface Care seeks a hands-on Certinia ERP specialist to strengthen and expand its existing Salesforce-native financial systems. This role will assess current Certinia capabilities, identify configuration and process gaps, and partner with Finance to design, configure, test and implement practical improvements across core accounting and operational workflows.
The specialist will serve as Finance's functional and technical Certinia subject-matter expert while coordinating with IT and business stakeholders on Salesforce dependencies, integrations, data quality and governance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead a structured assessment of existing Certinia configuration, modules, business processes, integrations, data integrity and underutilized functionality; develop a prioritized improvement roadmap with the Controller and Finance leadership.
• Own hands-on Certinia configuration and enhancement delivery, including requirements, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment and post-launch support; distinguish changes requiring external developers or consultants.
• Partner with Finance to optimize applicable general ledger, accounts receivable, invoicing/billing, revenue processes, financial close, reconciliations, entity structures and management reporting; confirm actual modules and licenses before scoping work.
• Improve quote-to-cash and work-order-to-billing handoffs across Salesforce and Certinia, collaborating with IT and operations on integrations, exception handling and data ownership.
• Build or improve financial reporting, dashboards, audit trails, approval workflows and system controls to support timely, reliable decision-making and close processes.
• Identify opportunities for workflow automation, standardized configurations and reduction of manual spreadsheets or workarounds.
• Define test plans, support user acceptance testing, document changes, and manage release readiness with appropriate change controls.
• Support financial systems integration of acquisitions, including mapping, data migration requirements, validation and standardized onboarding.
• Create practical system documentation, SOPs and role-based training; support users and triage complex application issues.
• Partner with IT on architecture, Salesforce administration boundaries, integrations, security, vendor management and change governance; avoid duplicating the responsibilities of existing Salesforce support roles.
• Coordinate and oversee specialized Certinia implementation partners when needed, including deliverables, knowledge transfer and solution quality.
Qualifications
Required
• Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring, implementing or materially enhancing Certinia (formerly FinancialForce) ERP applications in a production environment; candidates must be able to explain specific work they personally delivered.
• Approximately five or more years of relevant ERP, financial systems or enterprise business applications experience, including substantial Certinia ownership.
• Strong working knowledge of finance and accounting workflows, including billing, accounts receivable, general ledger, close and financial reporting.
• Ability to translate Finance requirements into system designs, configurations, test cases and usable workflows.
• Understanding of Salesforce platform dependencies, data structures, permissions, integrations and release/change management.
• Proven ability to diagnose poorly adopted or incompletely configured systems and independently deliver improvements while collaborating across functions.
• Clear communication, stakeholder management, documentation and training skills.
Preferred
• Experience with Certinia Accounting and related financial modules applicable to SOLID's licensed environment.
• Certinia implementation, consulting or solution architecture experience; relevant Certinia or Salesforce certifications.
• Experience in multi-entity, private equity-backed, acquisition-driven or field-services organizations.
• Experience with data migration, integrations, financial controls, reporting tools and process automation.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, business or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Measures of Success
• Within the first 90 days, deliver a current-state Certinia assessment, risk/gap inventory and prioritized Finance-approved enhancement roadmap.
• Deliver agreed high-value improvements to billing, close, reporting or related Finance workflows, with documented adoption and reduced manual effort.
• Improve accuracy, reliability and timeliness of financial data and operational-to-financial handoffs.
• Establish sustainable configuration documentation, controls, training and coordinated change management with IT.
• Ensure any external Certinia consulting work results in maintainable solutions and effective internal knowledge transfer.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, with extended computer use and occasional work beyond standard hours during reporting, close, system implementation or acquisition cycles. Travel is expected to be less than 5%.
