Position OverviewKiewit Supply Network is the enterprise supply chain organization that sources and contracts the equipment, materials, and services Kiewit's construction and engineering business depends on. The Supply Chain Lead owns one or more spend categories end to end, building the category strategy, running competitive sourcing events, negotiating and administering agreements, and managing the supplier base that supports projects across the organization.
This is a strategic, commercially focused role to analyze spend, understand supply markets, decide how a category should be bought, and then execute a plan through agreements to meet demanding construction schedules. You will also lead and develop a team of buyers and category analysts, and act as the trusted commercial advisor to project, engineering, and operations leadership.

ResponsibilitiesCategory strategy and sourcing- Own the category management lifecycle for assigned categories: spend analysis, supply market assessment, demand profiling, sourcing strategy development, execution, and ongoing category governance.
- Build and maintain category playbooks that define preferred suppliers, buying channels, commercial models, pricing mechanisms, and escalation paths, and keep them current as markets shift.
- Conduct supply market and should-cost analysis, track commodity and index movements, and translate that intelligence into buying timing, hedging approaches, and negotiation leverage.
- Run structured competitive sourcing events end to end: bid package preparation, RFI/RFP design, bid evaluation and levelling, total-cost-of-ownership modelling, and award recommendation.
- Consolidate fragmented spend into master agreements and national or regional programs that create leverage across multiple projects and districts.
- Define and track category value targets, then deliver and report measurable savings, cost avoidance, and working capital improvement.
Commercial and contract management- Negotiate purchase orders, subcontracts, master service agreements, and long-term supply agreements, including pricing structures, escalation clauses, payment terms, warranties, liability provisions, and change-order mechanisms, in coordination with Legal and Risk.
- Administer awarded agreements through their lifecycle: compliance monitoring, price and rebate audits, amendments, renewals, and close-out.
- Assess and mitigate supply risk - single-source exposure, capacity constraints, financial health, geopolitical and tariff exposure - and maintain qualified alternate sources.
Supplier relationship management- Qualify, segment, and manage the supplier base for assigned categories, concentrating spend with strategic partners while preserving competitive tension.
- Establish supplier scorecards and KPIs, chair business reviews, and drive corrective action and continuous improvement where performance falls short.
- Develop joint value initiatives with strategic suppliers, including standardization, design-to-cost input, and early engagement on emerging demand.
Leadership and stakeholder partnership- Supervise, mentor, and develop buyers, category analysts, and procurement specialists; set priorities, review work quality, and support career progression.
- Partner with project management, engineering, estimating, and finance to align category strategy with project pipelines, budgets, and technical requirements.
- Influence stakeholders toward category compliance, and support estimating with current pricing and market intelligence during pursuits.
- Maintain accurate category, supplier, and contract data in ERP and sourcing systems, and report on spend, compliance, savings, and supplier risk.
- Ensure all procurement activity complies with Kiewit policy, client and contractual requirements, applicable regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
- Seven or more years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience, with demonstrated ownership of one or more spend categories.
- Proven category management capability: spend analytics, supply market analysis, sourcing strategy design, and strategy execution through to measurable value delivery.
- Demonstrated experience leading competitive sourcing events and negotiating significant agreements, including master and long-term supply agreements.
- Working knowledge of commercial terms and conditions, contract law fundamentals, and supply risk management.
- Experience leading or mentoring others in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with proficiency in ERP and e-sourcing platforms and advanced Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the credibility to influence senior internal stakeholders and supplier executives.
