Job Summary

The Category Manager position requires an experienced sourcing professional with a background in non-clinical materials and services contracting with superior analytic and problem-solving skills supporting a fast-paced, transformation-oriented work environment.  

The position requires experience in contract spend areas such as but not limited to, Facilities and Maintenance Operations (MRO), Construction and Capital Projects, Professional and Consulting Services, Human Resources, Financial Services, and Non-Clinical Capital Equipment. 

 

This position will serve as the strategic business owner for assigned non-clinical spend categories and supplier relationships. The Category Manager will develop and execute category strategies that align organizational objectives, operational requirements, supplier market dynamics, and financial goals. Working collaboratively with business leaders across Facilities, Human Resources, Finance, Construction, and other operational departments, this individual will drive contractual compliance, supplier performance, risk mitigation, value realization, and continuous improvement across Montefiore's non-clinical portfolio. The Category Manager will establish and manage strategic supplier relationships, utilizing performance metrics, business reviews, and market intelligence to improve service, reduce risk, and maximize value. 


Qualifications

  • BS Science or Business Administration Degree Required - Masters Preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ contract management and/or property management experience with a focus on indirect spend Required
  • Knowledgeable in Supply Chain Management  
  • Knowledge of ERP, Contract Management Software, Inventory Systems
  • Knowledge of Healthcare indirect and non-clinical spend categories.
  • Knowledge of Accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research and analysis   
  • Understanding of market dynamics and business judgment
  • MS office suite 
  • ERP and current supply chain information systems
