Job Summary: From eight dedicated plants in the United States and Europe, Aerospace and Transportation (A&T), a business unit of Constellium, develops and produces the aluminum products that contribute to shape the global aerospace, defense, transportation and industry markets of tomorrow.

Ravenswood Rolled Products is one of the world's primary A&T rolling mills with unique aluminum plate and coil capabilities within the industry.

The Ravenswood Casthouse is executing a multi-stage expansion to achieve its Casting Future State (CFS) vision, a strategic investment focused on enhancing safety, increasing production capacity of premium-grade aluminum alloys, and modernizing casting operations through advanced technologies and industry-leading practices. The initiative spans the entire casting value stream, including scrap processing, melting, metal treatment, online quality control, and ingot casting. The core and primary project of the expansion is the Replacement of DC 1, 2 and 8, the three oldest casting complexes.

The Casting Engineering Specialist will support existing Cast House operations and will be tasked with the primary focus to support the DC 1, 2, and 8 Replacement Project through design, construction, commissioning, and startup, upon successful project completion, the Casting Engineering Specialist primary responsibilities are expected to focus on supporting casting operations, driving process improvements, and sustaining operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for the DC 1, 2, and 8 Replacement Project throughout all phases, including equipment fabrication, factory acceptance testing (FAT), construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout.
  • Support equipment procurement, manufacturing oversight, inspections, testing, and acceptance to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Serve as a key field engineering resource during project execution by supporting and overseeing construction and equipment installation activities, resolving technical issues, and providing field engineering support through commissioning and startup to ensure safe, high-quality, and on-schedule project delivery.
  • Support operational readiness activities through participation in training plan development, competency matrix reviews, and technical documentation preparation, while leading the delivery of hands-on and classroom training for maintenance and operations personnel on new equipment and systems.
  • Ensure engineering designs and project execution comply with Constellium standards, industry best practices, and applicable requirements related to safety, sustainability, casting processes, molten metal operations, engineering, and project management.
  • Provide construction support during project execution, including contractor coordination, field issue resolution, work progress monitoring, and verification that installation activities comply with project specifications, safety requirements, quality standards, and schedule commitments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical, safety, schedule, and cost risks associated with assigned projects.
  • Facilitate and sustain effective two-way communication among plant, corporate, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Production, and EHS teams to ensure project requirements are aligned with business objectives and operational needs.
  • Support equipment commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and project closeout activities to ensure successful implementation and handoff to operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 15+ years of relevant industry experience, is required for this role.
  • Experience with casting technologies and casting processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of project management, safety, quality, and Lean manufacturing principles to improve project execution and operational performance.
  • Proficient with typical computer-based software.
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling applications.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of plant personnel including operations, maintenance, crafts, engineering, corporate, third-party engineering firms and upper management.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions independently or with consistence and accountability.
  • Must work to ensure safe, responsible, and cost-effective solutions are identified and executed throughout all project phases within an operating cast house.
  • Complex and diverse problem solving is required.
  • Must be well organized and able to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
