Full Job Description

The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound procedures in accordance    with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) protocols for cardiac and vascular testing. The technologist ensures optimal imaging and diagnostic accuracy while maintaining patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality.

 

Responsibilities

Echocardiography Procedures

  • Performs basic echocardiographic studies following IAC protocols.
  • Utilizes contrast agents and saline as appropriate for enhanced imaging.
  • Conducts strain imaging, Pedoff Doppler, basic 3D echocardiography, and stress echocardiography exams.

Vascular Studies

  • Performs IAC-compliant vascular protocols, including:
  • Lower extremity venous studies
  • Upper extremity venous studies
  • Pulse Volume Recordings (PVR)
  • Carotid ultrasound exams

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensures adherence to IAC standards and protocols across all procedures.
  • Assists the Lead Sonographer with maintaining accreditation requirements and protocol updates.

Training and Support

  • Provides support in onboarding and training of inexperienced staff in collaboration with the Lead Sonographer.
  • Shares best practices and ensures new team members understand and follow IAC guidelines.
  • Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests. Completes and records all testing information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. Ensures that critical results are reported promptly and accurately, following established policy. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicates with physicians, patients, and other center personnel. Maintains pleasant and informative manner in communicating with patients, physicians, and other center personnel. Makes recommendations to the supervisor on related duties, policies, and procedures.
  • Enhances the environment of teamwork. Shows motivation, enthusiasm, acceptance of responsibility and personal accountability for daily duties. Engages in problem solving in demanding situations. Asks for assistance / guidance when appropriate and accepts suggestions in a positive manner. Demonstrates understanding of the impact of individual performance on a team. Seeks to mentor and develop others.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans patient areas after each use and assists in maintaining a clean and orderly environment in the lab. Notifies supervisor of stocking needs and equipment needs or problems. Takes responsibility for lab opening and closing procedures when appropriate. Cleans and maintains all equipment according to Hospital Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Identifies own learning needs and responds to department needs. Identifies, acts on, and maintains a record of meetings, etc. to upgrade personal / professional growth. Attends in-services, lab, and departmental meetings. Strives to increase proficiency in testing and other lab procedures. Suggests new, changing, more efficient or economical techniques, procedures, and processes.

Compensation Range: $35.00 - $59.50 per hour

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.

Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.

The benefits outlined also reflect CSHS92 policy at the time of posting. Benefits as are made available to other similarly situated team members of CSHS, although participation is at all times in accordance with and subject to the eligibility and other provisions of such plans and programs.
