Full Job Description
Summary
Provides direct support for patients with cardiac rhythm disturbance, abnormalities, and implantable cardiac rhythm management devices. Collaborates with cardiologist or electrophysiologist on the device in the patient's total treatment plan. Performs the technical component of remote cardiac device monitoring.

Job Duties
  • Analyzes data from a wide variety of cardiac devices identifying arrhythmias as well as pacing, sensing, or other device abnormalities in addition to evaluating appropriate or inappropriate device interventions for arrhythmias.
  • Reprograms devices as directed by physician to achieve optimal pacemaker performance.
  • Provides full diagnostic reports from external monitoring and device checks to allow for adequate provider follow-up and/or adjustment.
  • Coordinates daily function of the pacemaker or defibrillator clinic(s).
  • Manages patient enrollment, equipment requests, alert management, and patient education.
  • Performs device checks on patients, either in the office or trans-telephonically.
  • Troubleshoots missed transmissions including basic identification of poor monitor connectivity or other remote monitoring malfunctions and immediate contact of no-show patients to ensure rescheduling.
  • Uses clinical judgment to prioritize device alerts and abnormal transmissions per established policies and protocols and notifies physician or non-physician practitioners of urgent issues requiring further attention.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Cardiovascular, Life Science, or other related field.
  • 3 years experience working with cardiac devices.
  • Ability to interpret arrhythmias from both intracardiac and surface electrograms and identify normal vs. abnormal device function.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic, intermediate, and advanced device issues.
  • Ability to perform device interrogations, pacemaker telephone checks, and remote device transmissions.
  • Must demonstrate triage skills in evaluating reports and communicating by ensuing effective, efficient, and safe patient care.
  • Knowledge of cardiac rhythm management, cardiac devices, and cardiovascular physiology.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of dysrhythmias.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire and
  • CCT - Certified Cardiographic Technician CCI - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • RCES -Reg Cardiac Electrophysiology Spec CCI - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
