Full Job Description
About the Role

Base is deploying its own assets at an unparalleled pace and scale - every battery that is deployed must be financed through tax equity, debt, and project equity. This role sits inside the team that raises that money, supporting live capital raises as Base scales towards billions of dollars of financed assets across every structure. The team is small and this is a front-row seat on real transactions from day one - you'll be in the room running diligence, structuring the deal, and working directly with lenders, tax equity investors, and equity partners on financing a category-defining asset class.

What You'll Do
  • Build the models that shape how Base raises money - debt sizing, tax equity waterfalls, unit economics, and project equity returns, across every live capital raise
  • Own the diligence process end to end - data room, internal and external coordination, and being the person lenders, tax equity investors, and equity partners call when they need an answer
  • Help structure and negotiate real terms, rather than just track them - capital stack design, risk allocation, and tradeoffs between debt, tax equity, and equity
  • Build the tools and infrastructure that let a lean team run debt, tax equity, and equity processes at once, without adding headcount
  • Maintain and represent Base's brand in capital markets - polished materials, professionalism, quick responses, and friendliness that makes counterparties want to work with us
  • Help shape the capital strategy itself - which structures to pursue, in what order, and how each new financing sets up the next

What You'll Bring
  • 2-4 years in investment banking, infrastructure investing, project finance, or tax equity - you've run real processes, not just modeled them. Distributed energy experience is a plus.
  • Financial modeling skills sharp enough to build and defend models under real diligence pressure
  • Working knowledge of all sides of the capital stack: debt mechanics, tax equity structures, working capital facilities, bonds or private placements
  • Comfort reading and interpreting financing agreements, credit agreements, and partnership documents
  • The organization to run diligence and documentation across multiple live deals at once without dropping the ball
  • Communication that holds up in front of institutional investors, lenders, and Base's leadership

About the Team

The Base finance and business operations team is responsible for providing clear visibility on past and future performance across the business, financing our growth, capital allocation decisions, and supporting the broader Base team on key performance drivers. To succeed, Base must raise and deploy tens of billions of dollars, maintain sustainable unit economics, exercise extreme operating leverage, and balance supply/demand and growth/profitability in a complex and high-pace environment. The finance team enables these by building toward omniscience with sharp analytics and tools for observability, integrating with the business to support operational decisions, establishing tight controls and processes to cull complexity, and presenting Base to investors effectively.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
