ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Program Manager, Delivery Performance, this position is responsible for providing support on the management of financial and schedule data within the project portfolio management system for use in branch and department-wide reporting in alignment with corporate requirements. Provides input and support for development of the 10-year Capital Plan, operating budget, and Tangible Capital Asset reporting. Determines project and portfolio status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts. Improves financial management by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to project teams and management. Participates in development of reporting and publications including data inputs and data visualization and coordination. Prepares and delivers training on financial and schedule data entry into project portfolio management system.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Provides operational support for financial and schedule management including user and business support for functions within the project management information system.
• Performs quality assurance and quality control for financial data (actuals and forecasts).
• Develops and submits reports to management on the status of key project milestones, deliverables and spending. Determines methods of extracting data for reporting.
• Provides input and support to the branch and department management pertaining to financial data driven decision-making.
• Provides input and support for development of the 10-year Capital Plan Budget scenarios, multi-year operating budget and Tangible Capital Asset Reporting.
• Determines project and portfolio status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
• Analyzes schedule variance data and provides reports on project and portfolio trends.
• Identifies common schedule risks and issues across project portfolios and reports trends to management.
• Improves financial management by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends and recommending actions to project teams and management.
• Participates in development of annual reporting and publications including data inputs and data visualization and coordination.
• Gathers bid costing data for capital construction budget estimating.
• Maintains cost database by verifying cost data for the purpose of cost estimation.
• Monitors contract spending and use of scope and contingency to determine total actual costs on projects.
• Assists management in the preparation of public facing reports and provides input to business planning activities, as required.
• Prepares and delivers training on financial and schedule data entry into project management information systems.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Successful completion of a Community College Diploma or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience providing project financial and/or schedule analysis in any or all aspects of engineering system planning, design and construction or support in data management systems, data integrity and project management.
• Sound knowledge of financial systems, data tracking, report generation, cost estimation, project management software and infrastructure delivery.
• Knowledge of civil works and demonstrated understanding of construction task sequencing.
• Analytical skills to analyze schedule logic, identify issues, and to design, develop and implement recommended solutions.
• Demonstrated understanding of project management concepts.
• Experience in developing and delivering training sessions and materials relating to scheduling and/or project management.
• Advance skills in MS Office and use of virtual platform. Knowledge in Project Server, Project Professional, Share Point, SQL and business intelligence software such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Strong analytical skills, critical thinking and report writing skills.
