Job DescriptionThe OpportunityAs the Center for Space and Atmospheric Research (CSAR) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University continues to expand its research enterprise, we are seeking to connect with talented and motivated individuals interested in current and future opportunities in ionospheric and atmospheric physics, planetary science, remote sensing, high-fidelity modeling and simulation, spacecraft data analysis, and in situ instrumentation.
CSAR and its various associated laboratories are building a pool of candidates for anticipated Research Engineer/Scientist positions that may arise as new projects and funding opportunities develop. While submission of materials does not guarantee immediate consideration or contact, qualified applicants may be contacted as opportunities become available. The appointment can also be at Senior or Principal Research Engineer/Scientist positions, commensurate to experience and available opportunities.
These opportunities may involve supporting ongoing and future ionospheric research activities within CSAR and collaborating on a variety of instrumentation, modeling, and basic science projects.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesDepending on project needs and available funding, responsibilities may include:
- Contributing to the development of in-situ instruments for sounding rocket missions and small satellites, or the development of ground- and space-based remote sensing instrumentation.
- Designing, developing, and applying high-fidelity models for simulation and synthesis
- Data analysis and interpretation from in-situ observations (including satellite constellations) and ground-based remote sensing systems.
- Operating, maintaining, and conducting experiments in plasma chamber facilities, including spacecraft charging and flight instrument characterization studies.
- Assisting with the supervision and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate student engineering and science projects.
- Collaborating with researchers within the CSAR and external partners.
- Presenting research findings at scientific conferences and contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
Appointments, if available, are expected to be full-time, benefits-eligible positions, with duration and renewal dependent upon project funding, performance, and research needs.
