Job Description
Job Title: CAE Engineer Date: 2026
Reports to: CAE Manager
Duties / Responsibilities of this position:
Perform finite element analyses to evaluate products and material solutions for crashworthiness, structural performance, NVH, fatigue, durability, and other relevant structural-performance applications.
Develop appropriate finite element models, including geometry idealization, meshing, material definitions, connections, contacts, loads, constraints, and boundary conditions.
Evaluate CAE results, identify performance limitations and failure modes, and recommend design changes to improve product performance, mass, cost, manufacturability, and robustness.
Support development of new product concepts and customer opportunities by providing timely analytical insight to Product Development, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Commercial, customers, and suppliers.
Perform and support coupon, component, subsystem, and system-level CAE analysis and correlation as appropriate for assigned applications.
Apply appropriate material models and modeling techniques for polymers, composites, adhesives, metals, and other materials relevant to company products. Support material characterization and material-model validation in collaboration with senior CAE, R&D, and laboratory personnel.
Plan and support physical testing required for CAE validation and correlation. Compare analytical predictions with test results, identify sources of discrepancy, and refine models and assumptions as appropriate.
Verify model setup and results, including material definitions, boundary conditions, loads, connections, contacts, mesh quality, units, assumptions, and overall result validity. Participate in peer reviews of CAE work.
Document models, inputs, assumptions, results, conclusions, and recommendations in a clear and traceable manner in accordance with company data-management and engineering procedures.
Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to engineering, commercial, manufacturing, customer, and supplier stakeholders.
Support customer programs and technical activities at customer locations when required, professionally representing the company with customers and suppliers.
Develop and apply improved CAE methods, automation, optimization, and data-analysis techniques to improve simulation efficiency, accuracy, repeatability, and engineering decision-making.
Work effectively in cross-functional and global teams while independently managing assigned analyses, project commitments, and agreed timing.
Job Requirements: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Working knowledge of finite element analysis fundamentals, structural mechanics, and engineering problem solving.
Experience with one or more commercial FEA solvers such as LS-DYNA, OptiStruct, Nastran, Abaqus, or equivalent.
Experience with CAE preprocessing and postprocessing software such as Altair HyperWorks/HyperMesh, LS-PrePost, or equivalent.
Ability to interpret FEA results, assess model validity, and relate analytical predictions to physical product behavior.
Understanding of automotive crashworthiness, structural performance, NVH, fatigue, durability, and/or related CAE applications.
Effective written and verbal technical communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Preferred
1-3 years of relevant automotive or related CAE/FEA experience. Exceptional candidates with relevant academic, internship, or co-op CAE experience may also be considered.
