Full-time

Description

The Designer (CAD) designs and documents plant systems, including process systems (piping, pressure vessels, pumps, valves, and similar components), HVAC, fire protection, civil and structural systems, cooling systems, electrical distribution, and architectural features. The 3D models produced in this Designer (CAD) role support coordination of design and construction activities, including interference identification, seismic evaluations, generation of piping isometrics, and drawings supporting construction and operations.

The annual base salary range for this position is $78,000.00 - $95,000.00 plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This is an onsite position located in Janesville, WI.

What You'll Do

The following functions are essential to this position. An employee in this position must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. This list is representative and not exhaustive.

Modeling and Design
• Design and document plant process systems using 3D modeling tools, including components, process skids, and facility plans covering mechanical, fire protection, plumbing, and electrical scopes, integrating information from a variety of vendors and CAD/BIM platforms.
• Create and modify Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and 3D plant and system piping in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Create and modify 3D models and associated detailed 2D drawings for structural and architectural design in Revit.
• Create and modify process skids in SolidWorks, incorporating reference geometry imported from external CAD platforms.
• Develop the design and drafting of complex piping drawings from baseline information such as P&IDs, General Arrangements (GA), piping specifications, and equipment arrangement drawings.
• Modify 3D models of tanks, vessels, piping, and equipment, and generate the associated detailed mechanical drawings.
• Design systems supporting the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the facility, equipment, and controls required for the production and processing of medical isotopes and fissile solutions.

Coordination and Model Integration
• Partner with engineers and stakeholders across multiple review formats to translate technical feedback and informal design notes into accurate model updates.
• Work across the engineering organization to identify and resolve design conflicts, updating the integrated model accordingly.
• Provide design recommendations to other designers and engineers.

Field Verification
• Conduct walkdowns of the plant site and installed systems to capture as-built conditions and reconcile them against the model of record.

Requirements
• Associate degree in engineering or a related discipline and three (3) to five (5) years of recent design experience, or a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline with recent design experience. ( Relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement depending on the candidate.)
• Demonstrated proficiency using AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with drafting and design standards.
• Experience designing systems from the ground up, including responsibility for basic design considerations.
• Detail oriented, with the ability to communicate design rationale to designers and engineers.
• Proficiency with the AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset.
• Experience in pipe design.
• Experience with Navisworks Manage for model coordination and clash detection.

PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS
