Job DescriptionAs Buyer III based at our US headquarters in East Syracuse, NY, you will be accountable for leading supply chain efficiency with data-driven, sustainable recommendations for customers and INFICON ISS objectives. You will play a critical role in ensuring material availability, supplier performance, and inventory health within a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
You will also partner cross-functionally to translate demand into executable procurement plans. In addition, you'll bring strong SAP/MRP expertise, supplier relationship skills, and a data-driven mindset to improve service levels while balancing cost and inventory risk.
What you will be doing- Oversee all activity related to purchase orders, inventory control and vendor management
- Translates MRP signals, forecasts, and exception messages into timely purchasing decisions that balance supply, cost, and inventory risk
- Owns end-to-end purchase order execution for assigned categories, from requisition review through delivery, expediting, and issue resolution
- Ensures material availability to support production schedules and maintains a minimum 95% fill rate
- Manages inventory levels, lead times, and supply buffers to improve material flow and shorten lead times without driving excess inventory
- Owns supplier performance for assigned categories, proactively addressing OTD, cost, quality, and capacity risks
- Partners cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Strategic Sourcing to resolve complex supply issues
- Maintains accurate purchasing and supplier data within SAP to support effective planning and execution
- Supports S&OP by aligning short-, mid-, and long-term supplier capacity plans with demand requirements
QualificationsQualifications- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or demand planning
- Strong working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
- Experience with Lean, Kanban, pull systems, or VMI (preferred)
- Analytical, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently

Additional InformationA reasonable estimate of the current range is: $80,000-$95,000/annually. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit-sharing bonus with a target of 10% as well as 401K match up to 8% (vesting schedule).
