SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Business Systems Analyst is the connective tissue between Ascent Aerospace's business stakeholders and the Information Technology team. This role owns the work that makes technology initiatives succeed: process documentation, requirements gathering, stakeholder communication, and change management. The analyst translates business problems into structured requirements, maps current and future state workflows, and ensures that the people affected by technology changes are informed, prepared, and supported through the transition. Working directly under the Enterprise Solutions Architect, this person is central to how IT engages the business, taking the discovery and design work off stakeholders' plates so they can show up to focused conversations rather than blank pages.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProcess Analysis and Design
- Document current-state business processes across all functions including Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Engineering, and Business Development.
- Identify process gaps, manual workarounds, and improvement opportunities through structured stakeholder conversations and direct observation.
- Design future-state workflows that align with both technology capabilities and business objectives.
- Facilitate working sessions with business sponsors to validate requirements and confirm process designs before any development begins.
Requirements Management- Translate business needs into clear, actionable functional requirements for all IT initiatives.
- Maintain a living requirements backlog and ensure clear traceability from business problem to delivered solution.
- Define acceptance criteria and success metrics for each initiative in partnership with the business sponsor.
- Assess the business impact of proposed scope changes and communicate it to stakeholders; the IT Project Manager owns change control.
Stakeholder Communication and Change Management- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the IT delivery team across all active initiatives.
- Develop and execute change management plans for each major rollout, including training, communication, and adoption tracking.
- Prepare executive-ready updates and support steering committee reviews.
- Proactively surface risks, trade-offs, and dependencies before they become problems.
Program Support- Support the VP of Information Technology and Enterprise Solutions Architect in roadmap planning and initiative prioritization.
- Work with external vendors and implementation contractors on requirements, functional design, and review of deliverables against business requirements, in coordination with the IT Project Manager.
- Maintain process maps and requirements documentation, and contribute to the program decision log and lessons learned.
- Flag process and business-change conflicts across workstreams to the IT Project Manager.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a business analyst, systems analyst, or process improvement role.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into clear written requirements.
- Experience facilitating workshops and working sessions with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or regulated industry environment. Experience in an engineer-to-order or project-based manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with SAP ECC or S/4HANA in a business analyst or super-user capacity.
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies.
- Experience with AI platform implementations or digital transformation programs.
- Certification in business analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA) or project management (PMP).
- Experience supporting ERP implementation or migration projects.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY- No direct supervisory responsibility. Coordinates across functional stakeholders and delivery team members.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS- Less than 25%. Occasional travel domestic and global as required.
