Position Summary:

The Business Operations Manager, Local Media, supports the day-to-day operational execution of the NBA's Local Media organization. Reporting to the Business Operations Lead, this role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional initiatives, maintaining operational processes and systems, supporting financial and vendor operations, and ensuring organizational priorities are executed efficiently.

Working closely with stakeholders across Production, Programming, Engineering, Product, Distribution, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Technology, and NBA teams, the Business Operations Manager helps drive operational excellence through strong project management, process coordination, reporting, and organizational support.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate day-to-day operational initiatives, ensuring projects, timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional action items remain on track.
  • Support the implementation of department processes, operational workflows, governance structures, and best practices established by the Business Operations Lead.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, operational trackers, status reports, standard operating procedures, templates, and other departmental documentation.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, document decisions and action items, and facilitate follow-up to ensure timely execution.
  • Maintain organizational records, including headcount, contractor, vendor, onboarding, and organizational tracking tools.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for employees, project employees, contractors, and vendors in partnership with Human Resources, IT, Finance, Facilities, and Legal.
  • Administer the department's Airtable environment, including dashboards, interfaces, automations, workflows, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Develop dashboards and recurring reports that provide visibility into operational priorities, project status, department performance, financial activity, and key business metrics.
  • Prepare executive presentations, communications, briefing materials, and recurring business updates for leadership.
  • Support department budget management, forecasting, invoice processing, purchase requests, accruals, expense reconciliation, procurement, vendor management, and contract documentation.
  • Oversee quality control of the Local Media team billing process in partnership with the Program Coordinator, ensuring billing packages, expense allocations, and supporting documentation are accurate and complete prior to submission.
  • Maintain reporting and reconciliation supporting team bill-back activities while partnering with Finance, Broadcast Operations Managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and continuously improve billing workflows.
  • Coordinate recurring department meetings, planning sessions, and cross-functional operating cadences while tracking follow-up items, risks, dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Support department communications, learning and development initiatives, conferences, leadership meetings, offsites, and team engagement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows, reporting, automation, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration across the Local Media organization.


Required Education/Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 4+ years of experience in Business Operations, Project or Program Management, Consulting, Media Operations, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives and supporting teams with multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining operational processes, project plans, trackers, reports, and documentation.
  • Experience supporting financial operations, including budget tracking, invoice processing, expense reporting, procurement, or vendor management.
  • Experience preparing presentations, reports, and briefing materials for senior leaders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving business environment.
  • Experience within sports, media, entertainment, technology, or another operationally complex organization preferred.


Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and process-coordination skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Airtable, including databases, linked records, interfaces, dashboards, automations, permissions, and reporting.
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create polished, executive-ready presentations and briefing materials.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for financial tracking, reporting, reconciliation, forecasting, and operational analysis.
  • Experience using project management and collaboration platforms such as Asana or similar tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and document management.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high degree of organization and responsiveness.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies, operational risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, cross-functional partners, vendors, and NBA teams.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and appropriately manage sensitive, confidential, or financially significant information.

Salary Range:

$95,000 - $120,000
