This result driven seller is energized by opening doors and building relationships. You will be responsible for expanding Planet's footprint across the Public Safety community-serving state and local government, education, and the agencies and partners that support them-helping customers modernize and strengthen compliance on the cloud. Success in this role comes from previous experience selling into Criminal Justice (law enforcement, corrections etc.) as well a passion for driving new business to solve mission-critical technical challenges for public-sector clients.
ResponsibilitiesThis role drives growth across complementary sales motions:
- New business development - generates net-new pipeline opportunities and revenue through outbound prospecting, marketing campaigns, referrals, and presence at industry conferences and networking events.
- Partnership - identify, cultivate and maintain external opportunities to expand Planet's presence in this vertical by participating in industry events and organizations
Across these motions, you will:
- Position Planet's professional services and Microsoft cloud solutions to help Public Safety customers modernize and meet their goals.
- Develop, maintain, and grow meaningful relationships with customers, partners, and Public Safety organizations and influencers that expand Planet's reach and create new opportunities.
- Maintain vertical fluency in the Public Safety buyer landscape and stay current with the policies, procurement paths, and trends that shape public-sector buying decisions.
- Partner across the organization in the identification, development, and prompt delivery of SOWs and RFX responses tailored to each client's unique needs.
- Provide timely, accurate forecasts and pipeline reporting to leadership, executing in accordance with Planet's established sales methods, processes, and tools.
- Meet or exceed bookings and pipeline-generation targets by prospecting, qualifying, and driving opportunities to close.
Qualifications- At least 3 years of sales experience in the Public Safety space, including state and local government (SLG) and education (EDU) customer and experience with Criminal Justice Information (CJI) and the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policies and the impact of technology modernization
- Proven success driving "top of the funnel" sales activity, expansion of an existing customer base and mining internal data for opportunities
- The ability to prioritize leads and optimize opportunities thinking creatively about how to address and build customer connections to drive Planet adoption
- A working understanding of the Microsoft technology landscape and how it applies to public-sector modernization.
- A proven Trusted Advisor who builds on both new and existing relationships to deliver innovative professional services solutions.
- Experience developing meaningful partner and channel relationships that generate pipeline and accelerate deals.
- Comfort selling compliance- and security-driven engagements and translating requirements into business value.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the judgment to know what and when to escalate.
- A collaborative team player with a customer-success mindset and a high level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to client satisfaction.
- Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites and industry events.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
