Overview

The BDM is responsible for leading the successful execution of multiple large-scale plant construction projects across various locations in Florida, while also contributing to business growth by identifying new project opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and supporting early-stage project development. This role blends operational excellence with strategic market engagement.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Opportunity Identification
  • Identify and support new project opportunities through relationships with contractors, developers, and internal commercial teams
  • Provide input during early-stage project evaluation (feasibility, timelines, cost considerations)
  • Support proposal development, technical discussions, and project scoping as needed

Project Execution & Delivery
  • Lead feasibility studies for proposed capital projects, including cost estimates and schedules, and recommend the most efficient technical solutions to minimize waste and maximize return on investment.
  • Lead permitting, construction, and installation activities.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of concrete plant construction projects, from planning through commissioning.
  • Manage multiple projects across Florida simultaneously, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Track project progress, identify risks early, and implement mitigation plans.
  • Partner with Corporate and Business Unit purchasing teams to define scopes of supply and work for new equipment, construction, installations, and asset upgrades.
  • Evaluate bids using life cycle cost analysis and assess engineering solutions for reliability, maintainability, and total manufacturing cost.
  • Develop and present mitigation plans for bringing projects back in compliance when needed.
  • Prepare reports to present project progress, and inform business units on issues of quality, cost, and schedule compliance.


Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and develop a team of project engineers, site managers, and contractors
  • Set clear priorities, drive accountability, and coach team members for high performance
  • Ensure strong coordination across engineering, procurement, operations, and finance

Contractor & Stakeholder Management
  • Select, manage, and evaluate contractor performance
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders (vendors, local authorities, partners)
  • Lead project governance, reporting, and executive updates

Planning, Budgeting & Controls
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Track and control project costs and performance metrics
  • Ensure consistent use of project management standards and tools


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience
  • 10-12+ years of experience managing capital projects in construction or industrial environments; experience in concrete, cement, or other heavy materials is preferred.
