Job Overview

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing sales strategy for both existing and new customers to achieve business growth targets. Strategy development will be grounded in analysis of segmented sales data, customer insights, pricing, macroeconomic and industry trends, and specification opportunities. Sales execution will include partnering with the established sales team, as well as independently leading customer-facing sales activities.

The Business Development Manager will drive sales as Enclosures product line Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sales teams and customers, providing strong application expertise and technical solution guidance.

A Day In The Life

Strategy Development:
  • Develop strategic plans and prioritized tactics to drive growth with existing and new customers
  • Perform segmented data analysis by product line, account, and region.
  • Partner with the Business Unit Manager to develop new product development (NPD) commercialization plans and supporting presentation materials
  • Analyze quotation activity and pricing feedback from channel partners to improve win rates, defend existing market share, and uncover incremental growth opportunities
  • Partner with the HES Sales team and Business Unit to develop and align on Business unit and account-level growth strategies.

Sales Execution:
  • Lead customer-facing sales meetings, trade shows, and product demonstrations that influence decision-makers and convert opportunities into sales.
  • Work closely with Hubbell sales teams to strategically engage key accounts and gain access to engineering, technical, and standards organizations.
  • Develop and deliver NPD-focused presentations to key end users and channel partners to support successful product launches and accelerate market adoption.
  • Support key aspects of new customer onboarding and account setup, as needed.
  • Drive specification wins, standards approvals, and competitive bid opportunities to secure project awards, expand the installed base, and close new business.

Product Training and Market Intelligence:
  • Serve as the Enclosures Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sales teams and customers, providing strong application expertise and technical guidance.
  • Conduct field visits, ride-alongs, and technical discussions with standards engineers, distributors, lineworkers, and customers.
  • Lead product training for internal HUS sales teams and external customers.
  • Research and communicate market intelligence, including macroeconomic trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and product-specific market developments.
  • Translate market, customer, and competitive insights into actionable recommendations that support growth of existing products and development of new offerings.
  • Partner with Product Management, Business Unit Teams, and broader sales organization
