Responsibilities

  • Hire and mentor a team of over 6 Business Development Managers
  • Conduct weekly 1:1s and performance check-ins
  • Manage team pipeline health, accuracy, and quota performance
  • Develop and refine GTM strategy including ICP focus and sales playbooks
  • Collaborate with marketing on lead generation strategies
  • Work with delivery and legal teams on proposal development
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance team efficiency and success
  • Report team performance directly to executive leadership

Vention is a global engineering partner to tech leaders and fast-growing startups, combining 20+ years of product development expertise with an AI-first approach and a reputation for reliable delivery.

We’re expanding our New York hub and hiring a Business Development Director to run East-Coast outbound, grow pipeline, and coach a team of BDMs as we push past $250 M ARR. Lead the strategy, sell hands-on, and turn bold ideas into working software.

What you'll do

  • Hire, coach, and scale a team of 6+ Business Development Managers
  • Run weekly 1:1s, performance check-ins, and real-time coaching
  • Own team pipeline health, accuracy, forecasting, and quota delivery
  • Set and evolve GTM strategy – including ICP focus, tooling, and sales playbooks
  • Partner with marketing on campaigns, content, and lead-gen strategy
  • Collaborate with delivery, legal, and leadership on proposal development
  • Use AI tooling and workflow automation (e.g. n8n, Clay, Apollo) to improve efficiency and ensure your team is set for success
  • Report directly to executive leadership on team performance and GTM health
  • Cultivate a high-trust, high-performance team culture rooted in ownership and clarity


What you bring

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B sales or GTM roles, with 3+ in a leadership or strategic ownership position
  • Strong consultative selling expertise
  • Proven track record of closing $1M+ deals, self-sourced, multi-year, multi-stakeholder deals, selling to CTOs and engineering leadership within the target ICP
  • Experience building and executing repeatable outbound strategies, GTM plans, and partner channels in fast-growth environments
  • Team management: 2–3 years leading and mentoring talent as a player-coach, including hiring and firing responsibilities
  • Deep understanding of software development, product strategy, and engineering organizations
  • Outcome-driven mindset, with a passion for building teams, playbooks, strategies, and trusted client relationships
  • Nice to have:Experience with AI-enabled sales tools and GTM automation is a strong plus


What you'll get

  • Base salary: $160-190K, OTE $360K
  • Work mode – hybrid 2 days onsite in New York office
